  • Worst APP

This is the worst APP I have on my phone. Often times “not responding” or having to reboot or delete and re-install. I wish I never had URC installed in my house but after $20K of technology, I’m stuck with it.
  • A

Awesome app , when it works . Most of the time it does not .
  • App works as it should, don’t blame the app

As a pro installer of TotalControl, I see a lot of reviews that are mainly about how poorly the app controls their system. The app is a result of how your programmer designed your system. “clunky” or “unreliable’ is not how the system is supposed to work, and that is something to be brought up with your integrator, not the App Store.

  • Big purchase. Big Regrets.

We added a new AV system for our home and this app is the operating system associated with the system. The app is horrible. It’s inconsistently loads. The interface/experience is sub par. It constantly drops or WiFi. Overall highly disappointed and think any other option would be better than URC. Purchase and use an alternate app and digital system.

  • Excellent system

Looking at the system as a whole it’s an excellent choice. I looked at rti, savant, control4 and decided going the URC route. Really glad I did; comparing to friends homes. The system has been up for 1-2 years no reboots, no service calls, and everything seems to work 100%. At first it would cross my mind “will this turn on the tv”..... now it doesn’t even come to mind it just works every time. The key to all of this is your installer, if you don’t have faith in them use someone else, my guy was young and knew everything from networking to home theater design. Keep in mind this won’t be cheap and if you try to cut corners you’ll have issues.

  • iPhone compatibility

You really need to work on this app! Too many issues! We have had the URC system in our house for a year now and we have had nothing but problems with this app working properly on our iPhone 6 and X. It is so frustrating! I still can’t control any lights with the app on iPhone X. Get more smart IT people to solve this please!

  • Clunky at Best. User Interface Needs Tons of Work.

iPhone / iPad user interface is clunky and dated. Needs modernization. Volume functionality finicky and volume button placement is flawed, especially with mute button in between volume up and volume down. More to come here. Just wanted to get review out there and started.
  • It works pretty well

When I upgraded my WiFi it worked much better.

My biggest complaint is the volume buttons (reason this isn’t a 5 star rating). They are horrible and barely work. I use my iPhone to control and even the phones volume buttons don’t help. A slide bar would work so much better. Any chance we can get one?

  • Difficult to use

Lots of required dealer-only maintenance to make things run nicely. Even a software update for the receiver or tv, unless you pay the dealer to do it, can go awry. Menus are not intuitive. Buttons seem too small for my iPad. Nothing much is user modifiable really. To make a home automation system work, the vendor needs an extensive library of possible devices and their command/control codes. I think URC probably has this (they Have to). It just feels like they do not have the resources to keep up well with vendor’s updates and revisions and remotely install them on my system. In addition, I’ve watched their programmers in my house trying to make everything mesh properly. It seems to be a real struggle, even for a simple system. I had high hopes for this product.

  • Needs a true iPad version

The UI is horrendous on an iPad. Please spend the time/effort in getting this right by building native iPad support. It’s a must in the automation ecosystem. Otherwise the system is great at controlling my home from the standard remotes.
