Simple but powerful — and effective
Great app! Has cut WAY back on the annoying situation where my phone sounds an alert for what turns out to be a spam sms. And keeps the “caught” messages in a separate folder where I can easily delete them. A few weeks back, when a message that should have been caught (had several of my block terms) did slip through, I emailed support and they responded promptly, identifying and fixing the issue. Great! Going to leave a tip as soon as I submit this review. A nice enhancement would be the ability to have any texts from *specified* short numbers filtered out (regardless of content), rather than the current *all* short numbers option.Show lessRDP94
Does the Job
Works well and seems to catch most (if not all) of the spam texts I’ve been receiving. Easily good enough to deserve my adding to the tip jar, so I did.
Now I need a similar app to catch and block the spam phone calls I’ve been getting.Zekester137

SMARTFILTER WORKS. seriously.
Since wireless carriers took steps to filter robocalls (my old nemesis) earlier this year, I have been the recipient of an unheard of amount of junk SMS messages daily. IPhone’s standard filtering setting only works for unknown iMessages, and the other 3rd party apps that claimed to support SMS blocking were all talk (looking at you, truecaller). I suspect paying for premium would have been pointless.
SmartFilter has finally soothed months of frustrations, and probably saved some unfortunate customer service rep at my carrier a scathing phone call (for all the good it would do, but I needed to feel like I was trying to save my sanity).

Unique Spam Text 5 Star App!!
Some times you run into something that is unique outstanding and has a new and different design that sets you back! Don’t happen much now days but when it does you want to tell the people around you of your great find ! Today I found it in this unique app that for me does not only what it says it does but has gone up and beyond what any and I mean any app out now does not come close to blocking the Data this unique app Does!!! Spam still shows notification icon...
I installed this the other day after being incredibly annoyed by yet another spam text. Today I got a chance to see it in action when I looked over at my phone and saw a little red “1” notifier in my messages app. When I clicked into it, I was surprised to see that a spam text had been neatly sorted into the “Unknown and Junk” folder, denoted by a (1) at the top in the name.
So, it works, but. It missed the entire point! If I get a spam text I don’t want to know! Especially not with a red notifier that’s gonna annoy me until I go in and manually get rid of it. I want to be blissfully unaware of anything that gets sorted into that junk folder, and only see it if I venture in there looking for a lost text. If you have iOS14 installed, notification badges aren’t shown for spam/junk messages.Does exactly what I need it to.
I kept getting these SMS from the same source phishing using a variety of baits including CBD oil, coffee, lonely women, and others. This app offers several ways of filtering, including meaning learning, keywords, and unknown numbers sending links. I HAD BEEN SO FRUSTRATED FOR SO LONG! Thank you Jacob!Show lessHemothorax

Update: I really believe the app is working because I was getting several spam messages a day n now I’m down to a couple. That’s saying a lot for this app. Will give it a couple more days n then would gladly love to make a donation 🤗! Good job so far 🙂Show lessNein64

Despite never handing out my phone number unless necessary, it ended up on a spam list. I got the same kind of spam message like clockwork every morning and it was a huge annoyance. I googled and tried out more popular apps like Malwarebytes and VeroSMS and neither of them filtered any messages. You’d think Apple would at least have a built-in filter to block links from unknown senders that is not restricted to iMessages...
This app is simple and 100% functional. Words cannot describe how happy I was to discover that it successfully filtered out the spam this morning. I don’t know why this app isn’t more well-known, I’ve only seen it mentioned once on a random Reddit comment during my initial search. Payment isn’t even required but I would most definitely have paid more than the $1 tip for this service. Bless you developer for making my digital life a little more bearable, you have my undying gratitude for not having to go through the same tedious motions of deleting garbage every single day. exactly what I wanted!
I’m thrilled with SmartFilter. I wanted junk texts to arrive silently and be sorted into a separate list, and this app does exactly that.
Didn’t want or need filtering of voice calls thanks to iOS 13 finally offering that option, and I love not having to provide my phone number or sign up for an account - solid privacy policy.
