  • Limited species & not worth the cost

Very shallow coverage of fish species— only 57– with two photos per species and limited ID text in the species profiles. This would be an awesome 3$ app but is an incredible waste of money at 15, especially when most of its functionality is based on a small user base, and iNaturalist is free. It might be useful if actual rarities were in the species list, like tropical/Gulf Stream orphans, and you could “follow” species that are annual occurrences but tricky to see and genuinely worth getting alerts for. I wish I could ask for a refund.

    Developer Response

axhkf, welcome to Marine Life – North Atlantic app. We are glad to have you on board but we are very sorry that the application did not meet your expectations. In your review, you stated you would like to see a more extensive list of migrating marine animals passing through New England and Canada. It would be difficult for any guide to have every invertebrate species or migratory fish. Our area does not have the marine diversity of the tropical seas. We continue to add more species to the app, and at this time more than 25 species are about to be added. You have compared our app with the iNaturalist app, which is a much larger organization than ours with more extensive resources. MLNA does have many user advantages you can follow a creature and be notified when it is seen and the ability to receive notifications of marine life and diving events. We hope that future updates will improve your opinion of MLNA app and make you a satisfied member of the team.

Best field guide for marine life in New England. Nothing comes close...

Whether you are scuba diving, exploring tidal zones, or in any coastal habitants, this is the go to guide to learn about the local marine life.

Has great pictures, descriptions, and points of interest.

This is must have for anyone who loves the ocean...

  • Log your underwater observations

If you dive in the North Atlantic and look for marine life, then there is no better app to log all your observations in a neatly designed and easy to navigate application. My favorite part is to follow the animals and to get get notifications about their whereabouts. That’s so cool
  • AWESOME APP

If you have this book you will like the app as much. This is like the guide to learn about what critters you can see in the waters in North Atlantic. I usually don't buy apps. This is the only app that I bought. BUY BUY BUY. You won't be sorry
