Almost Perfect
Frankly, this app is fantastic. It does an amazing job transcribing voice to text. It’s very accurate. It’s very fast. It has lots of amazing functions. It makes meeting notes and organizing your transcriptions and everything really fantastic. It’s a beautifully wonderfully made app. It’s just really unfortunate that it is only available for English. I’m an American, working in Mexico and, I read Spanish much better than I understand it often because there’s lots of different accents and dialect and it can be challenging throughout the day especially once I get tired but if I can read what’s being said makes a lot easier for me. I don’t need a translator I just need transcription and I really really wish I could use this app in the Spanish language because it would make my life so much easier running a business in Mexico and I literally would be using this app all day every day if it could understand Spanish but It can’t unfortunately, so please add the ability for other languages. Spanish is the second most widely spoken language in the world, I would recommend adding that ability to the app and it would make it for me perfect

App Experience and Web Version Quirks
I’ve been using the app for a while now, and one notable issue is the lack of visibility for the free plan details within the app. The 300 minutes of free recording hasn’t updated since December 23. However, when I log in on the web page, it seems to display the information correctly; although, I haven’t had the time to confirm whether the 300 free minutes are updated monthly.
Another concern I’ve encountered is the low volume when using the web page version, making it challenging to listen to my recordings. Fortunately, this volume problem doesn’t occur when using the app.

The best out there, but still needs improvement
it is still the best app I’ve found to do the job when recording and transcribing my therapy sessions. But it still takes me about an hour to go through the transcriptions afterwards and correct the many many mistakes, in particular to make the content comprehensible. It also irritates me that all the spelling is American so I have to correct all that too. Perhaps there are more mistakes for British accents because the app can’t detect what we are saying? I wish there was a UK version of Otter that would address these issues.

Not great
The transcription is terrible. Too many errors in capturing the correct words and when there is a conversation the words run into another persons words. Then there is the outrageous price. Definitely looking elsewhere. Sorry Otter…still ways to go with your app.

Hidden Paywall
I was enjoying this app and used it for my work minutes until I hit the transcription limit. I wasn’t aware that there was a limit, and wouldn’t have downloaded the app if I knew. I can’t access the entire transcript that I need unless I pay. 🫠 if you’re willing to pay the subscription price, it’s a great app! If not, maybe pass.

Our basic plan is free and offers 300 minutes per month. If you do need higher limits such as transcription limit, please check out our paid plans: otter.ai/pricing. You can still export the full audio if needed on the basic plan.

I would give this a 5 but…
I’m a writer and love the convenience of Otter which has worked better for me than other apps I’ve tried. Over all its accuracy has been improving and its voice recording quality is good. What has been a problem for me is the clunkiness when editing. Simply getting the two cursors to the right point in the text has been aggravatingly difficult and then once there instead of the one word I’m trying to replace or the punctuation I’m trying to add several words or several lines will select themselves instead and I’ll have to start the process all over again. And back at its location once again I’m still having to retype back in the several others next to it. The other issue I’ve been having are the recording and transcription limits (90 minutes per session) even after upgrading to pro. And the only next level they offer is business which is not available to use on my phone and which charges for features I don’t need.
The other thing which would add value for me would be to be able to see at a glance the list of my writing and meeting notes with the information next to each one whether it has been saved to a cloud (by me or by the app) and if so to which one.

please support .ts files for import feature
tired of having to remain silent while running .ts files just to get a transcription cause this app won’t let me import .ts files.

I have been using this app for a week. It is replacing my other dictation software because of the ability to listen to the voice recording when editing. It is absolutely fantastic! Last week I used it to record a conversation with four different people at the same time on two different subjects and although the dictation didn’t quite keep up it was invaluable having the dictation and the voices. Highly recommend
Update… been using this for over a year. It is so, so useful for me! I use it for property inspections, making sure I catch what contractors are saying to me and attaching photos in the right place in the conversation makes it a perfect reference document.
I use it for sharing so that others can view and hear for group discussions… it’s excellent. Even with trying to cut costs I decided to keep this. I love it.
