Where are the columnists?
I like Newslide as an alternative to the paper as I live out of state about half of the year, but see two issues I’d like to see fixed. First - where are the columnists? I love their hometown stories and voice-of-the-people take on things. They keep me close to the city even when I’m mikes and miles away. Second, I use my iPad to access Newslide but am frustrated by the ads -not by their frequency but how they freeze my iPad screen for over 30 seconds and prevent me by swiping to any other story. Freezing for 5 seconds or so I could take, but 30 seconds is way too long!

Convenience
Enjoying having the Post-Gazette at my fingertips… AND, not having to bring 14 read newspapers to be recycled every two weeks
Nice idea but very poor execution
Stories are regularly out of date. A very limited selection of stories - makes me wonder who is choosing what I get to read. It doesn’t work in landscape mode - which is funny considering the woman in the ad proclaiming “techies like me love news slide” while holding her iPad in landscape mode. Perhaps she is addled and doesn’t notice the text is sideways.

Out of date
Stories are about a day late on average, and you can’t read more than a selected few (maybe 15 at most?) when the PG publishes far more articles than that per day. No options for reading breaking news. I’d rather read on desktop or mobile site.
Pgh News Slide
I am enjoying this app. The articles are well written and grammatically correct. That was a pet peeve I had against the Post-Gazette online.
It is a great way to keep up with the news. The articles are balanced, thorough and articulate. There doesn’t seem to be the bias I see in the regular paper.

Issue when you use the back arrow in Obituaries
Most time when I use the back arrow while reading the obituaries, it skips back to another day. It is very annoying when it does this. Then you have to start back at the beginning.
Nice and Smooth Now
When this app was first introduced navigation between articles was very difficult at times. Now that is not an issue. Navigation is smooth and I enjoy reading the articles most days. An improvement could be to all access to previous days articles. Maybe as a subscription feature.
One sided single viewpoint
This historical publication has become a one sided editorial embarrassment. This was evidenced by the recent firing of political cartoonist Rob Rogers.
I will not read, nor suggest that anyone else take the chance of being presented less than accurate reporting and editorial decision making. What is printed can not be trusted as valid. There is no objectivity provided in an environment where choice is staple for decision making. When only one side is presented, there can be no democracy. This is a sad state of affairs that causes question regarding what information is provided as news.

Pretty and bad
Aesthetically it’s nice. However, stories don’t update, the daily edition is days old and when it does get “new” stories they are days old. The PG reader is bad about updating new stories but this app is awful on that front. For all the money spent to advertise it, you’d think they would get the actual content piece sorted out first. Unless get news out to the public isn’t really the priority...
