Description of Florence

Florence is an interactive storybook from the award-winning lead designer of Monument Valley about the heart-racing highs and heartbreaking lows of a young woman's very first love. Florence Yeoh feels a little... stuck. Her life is an endless routine of work, sleep, and spending too much time on social media. Then one day, she meets a cello player named Krish who changes everything about how she sees the world and herself. Experience every beat of Florence and Krish's relationship through a series of mini-game vignettes - from flirting to fighting, from helping each other grow... to growing apart. Drawing inspiration from 'slice of life' graphic novels and webcomics, Florence is an intimate and unforgettable story.

Reviews of Florence

  • PLAY THIS ITS WORTH THE $3

This game was awesome. The interactive element is so artfully done, and it made the story feel so intimate and real. I cried multiple times.
If I had to nitpick, I would’ve liked to see a little more autonomy with the gameplay; yes there are some parts where you’re given a lot of choice as to what you do, but as far as I can tell, there’s no point where the gameplay or choices you make have a significant impact on the story. This format would be perfect with a network of different endings and outcomes based on how you play the different interactive sections.
Regardless, it was an amazing and moving experience, and I’m recommending it to all my friends. Thanks
  • A universal tale of young love

It's 99 cents, seriously, what are you waiting for?? I first played this game when it was originally released and every now and again, I pick it up once more.

The story of young love you’ve heard 1000 times, making it all the more impressive that the developers managed to convey a narrative in a way that stands out. Florence made me feel stronger emotions in it’s roughly 45 minute playtime than most romcoms do over two hours.

This game is wonderful and it’s a steal at 99 cents. You’ll thank me later, just give it a try.
  • Beautiful, but underwhelming

I’m a huge fan of indie games, and have been recommended Florence a few times before downloading. The storyline is simple, but what it lacks in plot, it makes up for with beautiful design and smooth gameplay. Aesthetically, it’s a complete knockout - the soundtrack adds to the experience, and isn’t distracting, and the art style is very light and easy to understand. My problem is with the overall experience. The game was over much too quickly (seriously, I finished all of it in about half an hour), and I greatly disliked how little the player can actually control/do. Based off of the ads, I was expecting an interactive story, kind of a choose-your-own-adventure type thing. Instead, I got to watch the events happen while moving around a few things and clicking buttons. Like the subject line, this app was aesthetically a success, but lacked in quality.
