* Added ability to sync races to and from the "my races" screen. This means you can now republish results if you did not have a data connection at finish (or if you use a phone without a sim card). This can also come in handy if you use the same user on multiple phones and would like all races to show up under my races. You can also use this feature if you have updated your display name or team and would like that reflected in existing online results. * Added a publish option for races under my races. This means you can choose to publish or unpublish the race also when accessing the race from my races. * Fixed a bug which prevented the name from automatically being picked up from Google when using Google login (the name would then be missing from the result list). Also: If you use the new sync feature, your name will now be updated in the online result lists, even if it was missing earlier. * Fixed gpx export timezone bug. * The store gpx track setting is now on by default (for new installs only)

Price History of UsynligO

Description of UsynligO

Select an orienteering map from the app and print it. Press start and navigate to the next control point using the printed map. There are no physical flags in the course, but the app tracks your locations and notifies you with a sound when you have found the next control point. The app includes a compass so you only need the printed map and your phone to run a race. If you get lost you can ask UsynligO for a "hint" with the direction and distance to the next post. You can also choose to publish your elapsed time to the UsynligO server and be included in the result list for the course you have run.The result list will include how many "hints" you have used, in addition to your time and split times. If you want to publish a new map so other users can run your course, you can go to www.usynligo.no and upload your maps. UsynligO basically lets you arrange orienteering practices and races without the hassle of putting physical flags in the forest. The courses can be available for as long as you determine. If you would like to use it in conjunction with physical flags, it also lets you print QR codes and use a QR code at each location for validation that a control has been found (for accurate timing). It is also possible to access courses from Livelox, which means you can rerun Livelox courses if you already have the map. The app supports both traditional orienteering and also Score Orienteering. In Score orienteering, the user can choose which order to visit the control points in, and the user collects points for every control point found.

  • No clue

I know how to use a map and compass but the app is over my head. There’s no directions and it’s not intuitive.
  • GPS tracking

This app should not need you to select “always” to enable gps tracking. “While using” should be all it needs. The rationale offered is due to poor programming or is completely bogus.

If you care about being continuously tracked or would like more battery life you will need to select “always” when using the app then select “never” when finished. This is a needless hassle, well, obviously.

Some apps, maybe all of them that use positioning data, can use or sell your location data for the purposes of ad targeting. Government agencies currently can also obtain this data without a warrant.

    Something to consider.

    Developer Response

What you claim is not correct. The fundamental issue is that Apple only considers an app to be "in use" when the screen lock is off and the app is visible. There are no developer tricks to work around this constraint. Please take the time to read how Apple describes it on their support pages (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207092 for full context): * While Using the App: Allows access to Location Services only when the app or one of its features is visible on screen. If an app is set to While Using the App, you might see your status bar turn blue with a message that an app is actively using your location. * Always: Allows access to your location even when the app is in the background. This means that unless you select Always mode, an app will not be able to get location updates when screenlock is on or you receive a phonecall etc. Also, just to make it perfectly clear: UsynligO is not involved with any form of ads and do not sell any user data of any kind. The only location related data which ever leaves your phone is when it records that you have found a control. If you record your track during a race, it is only stored locally on your phone. Please feel free to contact me via the UsynligO FB page if you would like to discuss this further or if you have any other concern. Thanks.
  • Keep on going

The app has saved orienteering for my school team. There are so many ways to improve this, but in general, it is a wonderful start to many possibilities. KEEP GOING TROND! Don’t let this idea stagnate. You will not regret your contribution to orienteering if you continue to improve on this.
