Description of Control Orienteering Analysis

Control is an app for orienteers. It is the perfect app for keeping track of your orienteering courses and analyzing them. It allows you to record a track in the app or import your existing track from a gpx/fit file. You can also import a track directly from Garmin Connect, Suunto or Polar if you subscribe to Total Control. View the track on any map image you add to the app. Either import an image file from a scanner or take a picture right in the app, then calibrate and adjust the track. Browse your course point-by-point, see the pace, HR, altitude along the way. Mark notes for later use. Pace zone stats let you view the pace which you had in the different sectors of the track. You can also replay the track with the speed you want. You can export the route you took in GPX format as well as a fully-customisable image of the orienteering map and your route. Export the track to Livelox or export track and the map to Digital Orienteering Map Archive. Save a video from a specific time with configurable length & gps tail length. Compare routes lets you add another route on the same map for comparing different route choices. And with What If -functionality, you can even draw an alternate route and speculate how much better your time would've been without that one silly mistake. Follow your favourite runners with Control Club. See their posts and post your own. React and comment to their performances and also compare their tracks to your own. You can also enable iCloud syncing which enables you to see your courses on all your devices. Basic app is completely free but for the more advance features you are required to get a Total Control subscription. We offer a free 2-week trial period for you to try it out, with all the features. You can cancel anytime. With Control Apple Watch app you can track a route by carrying only your watch, it tracks the route completely offline. You can mark controls as you pass them. Also by just turning the Digital Crown. Afterwards, when you get back to your iPhone, the track is automatically synced to the iPhone app and to all your devices with iCloud. Reviews of Control Orienteering Analysis

App failed

I just bought an Apple Watch.
What a nightmare to set up!!
Had to update my phone to ios17
Now the app won’t work. Almost all other apps I have tried work correctly. I also updated the app and it still didn’t work. Stuck on white splash screen.

Response from developer

Hi, sorry for your bad experience. I totally understand your frustration. I think I need to disable the old versions out from App Store. Thing is, the iOS12&13 support was stopped already over 1 year ago but the old versions were able to download. Apologies.

I use this app all the time!

This is one of the most functional apps I have ever used across every platform I have ever tried. One thing would be neat if there was a virtual orienteering option created for this. Otherwise, I can’t say enough good things about this app. You do have to go through a few steps to figure out how it works. The trickiest thing is placing your route onto an image. You just have to add points in more places to keep parts of the track for moving around that you need in a certain location. But then all you have to do is remove that point and it will look great.

Great app...but with a learning curve

Hello.
I am getting the hang of the app finally! Thanks so much!
I would urge anyone who uses this to spend a few minutes tinkering with the controls. If you think you messed up, just hit cancel. I’m really excited that I was able to figure out how to import a plain JPEG into the app.
The only tricky thing I have right now is that I have no problems moving and tagging control points to their locations on the map but moving the course track around and having it stay in place is a little tricky. When I want to move part of a long section that has several turns to places along roadways or trails, the entire track wants to move around. I played with this on my iPhone by placing false control points and but that not necessarily accurate of course, but I think I can figure a way out to not include those as controls I suppose.
Do you think you will ever include support for live tracking it might be easier to do when designing a course? Thanks
