Very useful. Does what it says it will do. Simple to use.

This app is very helpful in learning to see the true relative values of light and dark in a scene or photo.
Makes it possible to have independent measurement of values to use as a reference.

Great app!

Accurate and easy to use. The only thing it could improve on is having writing tool so you could mark the value number. That would be great when converting to another hue, and making a paint by number for value. Improves your “painters eye” as well...you’ll notice a marked increase of accuracy in reading value of any color. Well worth it👍

Values finally!

Great app! I wonder if the values could be increased to 5? Thanks a lot!

Needs work

This app has the potential to be helpful to anyone who wants the breakdown of values but it doesn’t work well on my iPhone. I can’t take a picture once I compose my shot and if I use an existing picture to convert it tells me there’s an error every time! Don’t buy this unless you absolutely have to have it.

Response from developer

I am sorry for the inconvenience. Please contact me through the app support site in the app store or directly to https://robertjakubowski.me/apps/see-value-support, and provide more details about the error you are getting while converting an existing photo. That will help me to fix the problem. I am not able to reproduce the issue, and none of the other users have reported it. Thanks for the feedback. May 12, 2018 update. Another user just reported that the app would return "Data unavailable" error while saving a photo. I found that the error occurs when the app was denied access to the Photo Library when the request dialog came up for the first photo. Please go to the device "Settings -> See Value -> Photos" and make sure the "Add Photos Only" setting is enabled. I also made a change to the app to provide detailed information in the error message when this occurs so that the user can resolve the issue. The update (version 2.0.4) is currently waiting to be approved by Apple and should be available for download within the next couple of days.

Now a Notan viewer!

My wife is an artist and see needs to view a photo is black and white to see the balance between the two before she starts a pastel. More importantly, see needs the ability to adjust the black level to more than just 50/50.

A painting with half the area black is not pleasing. Some scenes balance well at 30/60, or 40/60 or some value in-between. This app now has a slider that allows for such adjustment. It’s the only app for iPad that exists for iOS 11. Ann considers this app vital to her painting. Great job by the developer! She uses it every day.

Hmm!

I wanted to put photos into greyscale and this isn’t possible without buying an in-app purchase ... So not for me. Deleted because I thought that’s what the app did when I accepted it.

Worthless

This app is absolutely worthless

A way to alter value range would be cool

By that I mean to show grayscale with two values (black or white) or three (black gray and white).
