Description of Letter Tiles for Learning

This app is designed for tablets. It is not recommended for phones. Our Letter Tiles app lets you build words, divide words into syllables, and hear the sounds of the phonograms. Just choose your program from the menu (All About Reading or All About Spelling) and select which lesson number you are currently teaching. The appropriate letter tiles for that lesson will appear, making it easy for you to teach and easy for your child to learn. The app contains all the phonograms, suffixes, and word parts taught in the All About Reading and All About Spelling lesson plans. Suitable for all ages and learning styles! Please Note: This app does not read words aloud.

Reviews of Letter Tiles for Learning

  • loved the app...but now its missing tiles! UPDATE: it works!

UPDATE: I deleted app, and reinstalled, and now it works again. Hopefully this helps others who are having issues with missing tiles!

We used this all the time as companion to the All About Spelling curriculum, but now it's missing tiles that we used to have before like VCE. Also missing everything from my newest lesson ER, AR, OR, OU, even though I selected the right level & lesson from the drop down. How am I supposed to teach the lesson if the tiles I need are missing??

Thanks for updating your review! I'm glad it's working correctly for you now. Have fun teaching your kids! ~Merry :-)
  • Overpriced and frustrating to use

I can’t believe they justify $20 for this. I like not worrying about losing the tiles but that’s about it. It’s frustrating to use. When trying to split words into syllables it should be possible to easily drag half of the word over, but you can’t. You have to pull one at a time and it takes so long that it doesn’t help with fluency. Most of the time I end up ditching the app for a white board. There should be a button to quickly delete the word. This app feels ancient and clunky.

    Developer Response

I'm sorry you're having trouble using the app! See if this "top tips" video helps you move the tiles more easily: https://blog.allaboutlearningpress.com/letter-tiles-app-tips/ Tip 2 shows how to move word parts without having to do them one letter at a time, and Tip 10 shows how to divide words into syllables. If the app is not performing correctly, please contact me at support@allaboutlearningpress.com and let me know your device type and what version of iOS you are using, and we'll be happy to troubleshoot! Also, Apple will refund your purchase within the first 90 days if it's not working properly. If you are beyond 90 days but still within the first year, please contact us for help with a refund. We want to help you have a 5-star experience! ~Merry :-)
  • Not good

First of all, $20 dollars for an app that does nothing but give you letters to drag is ridiculous! This should cost 5$ max.
Secondly, once past level 1, the word building area is cut off by the letter tiles themselves! You can’t even see the word the child is building!
Thirdly, the child cannot hold on a letter blend to hear if it’s the right blend until it has been dragged to the top. Silly!
Lastly, a child cannot hold the built word to see if it spells what they think it says.
    Boo

    Developer Response

I'm sorry you're having trouble with the app. It sounds like you might be using it on a device that's not supported. The issues you are describing with the display are not typical. I recommend requesting a refund through Apple. If you have any questions or want me to look into this further, please contact me at support@allaboutlearningpress.com. ~Merry :-)
