It’s a good for freelancing
It’s a good app for models, stylist, makeup artist to find jobs that are not with an agency. They list jobs from a handful of different areas. The only thing now about it is that you have to pay to submit to more than 3 jobs. They say that they wanted to limit the pool of people applying to specific jobs depending on area and other factors. However, of course I preferred the free version. It’s still a great app that have reliable model listings.

Great to work with them
As a new user of the app, I have to say that I am impressed with how efficient and easy it is to use. In less than a month, I have managed to get two jobs and the communication with clients has been very good. I am very happy with the experience I have had so far and I can’t wait to continue working within the app and get super busy with new jobs. Kudos to the app developers for creating such a useful and easy to use platform!

Not much
Almost nothing for NY, submission and job search is super weak. No filters (same as Swipecast). Paywall for submissions, only allowed 3 submissions a month lol
Also took 1-2 months to get approved on here. I’m an agency signed model with over 10 years of experience. Rates are pretty meh.
The “link instagram” button still doesn’t work. Makes you go through Facebook and give weird permissions and inevitably doesn’t work. Extremely deprecated feature they’re still trying to leverage.
If any of these apps want to survive they’ll need to do a lot better, hold a standard minimum on rates, and respond to their support submissions.. I submitted 3 over 6 months lol

Newbook is seamless
I appreciate the ease and simplicity of newbook. I can apply to and accept jobs on my own behalf. Pay is on time and quick and the clients are really good. Pay varies across the board depending on the job. But I appreciate being able to book jobs myself without an agent and without the agency fees. 20% off the top to the app is no problem for me.

Newbook has been an amazing experience!!
I was referred to the app by a fellow model and upon making a profile I immediately was able to submit myself to distinct and reputable projects! I will honestly say you must definitely have some high quality photos to compete with other models for opportunities but that should go without saying for those taking the craft seriously! Ive been able to book over 8 projects within a 4 month period of joining and I love the fast payment and the ability to connect directly with the casting directors/brands. Would highly recommend Newbook to all models looking for another stream of opportunities and jobs!!!

$20/month?!
I had a feeling this day would come. To charge us a monthly or yearly fee and then take a cut out of the gigs we do book is insane to me. And if you stay with the free basic plan, ONLY 3 SUBMISSIONS A MONTH IS EVEN MORE INSANE. That’s not even 1 submission per week. I really think things have been taken to an extreme, especially with such a huge announcement not being communicated or released to the platform users properly. I literally had to find it out the hard way and ask another model if they were running into this max submission ‘error.’

GREEDY.
This app forced me to update and then required me to get Newbook Plus, which requires that I now pay to use their platform to submit for castings if I apply for too many. I understand that a lot of casting interfaces do this now, but how is that fair- especially when this app takes money from the models paychecks from gigs they book from the app, acting like an agency fee. Tried to contact them but their contact page is also gone. The app is also buggy and logs me out multiple times a day, and doesn’t always notify me in a timely manner when new castings are posted. I just think it’s really disrespectful to models- specially when there aren’t even that many jobs posted on the app compared to casting networks and backstage.

Great app for independent models
I absolutely love this app and how easy it is to book. I think there are a couple of things that could make it a bit better from the modeling side: 1. I'd rather either know what brand has starred me or not know at all that I've been starred. 2. Increased measurements for sizing because the options for bust size are limited for full busted plus models. 3. When a casting appears, there should be a mandatory size feature to be filled out by the company. It is currently not and as a curve model I sometimes don't know if I should submit to a casting or not. 4. If companies request models to do their own hair, makeup or clothing styling there should be a blurb for the companies stating that it is an extra fee to do so and have an inbuilt feature where models can set that rate for each service, in addition to their modeling fee prior to booking. 5. Usage should always be filled out by brands requesting models with a certain amount automatically placed in based on time period, if in perpetuity then it's at minimum a certain multiplier of the base rate. And models should have an option to click that they approve the usage or that they would rather alter it prior to accepting the booking. I think these would definitely make it a bit easier for independent models and their modeling agents to navigate the app in addition to facilitating change in the industry.
