It simply works
Zing is awesome
Zing is the best AI IoT nightlight available!
The best night light ever
Useless App
A couple of observations I made before I got totally stuck: While it’s possible to set several preset lighting schemes, there seems to be no way to actually SELECT the presets once they’re set. Clicking on them only lets you edit them again. So I don’t really know what the point is.
The product itself seems nice. Good colors and light output, although it does seem to make an annoying scratching/hissing noise in certain lighting conditions. I got the product for free because of a professional connection I have, so I can’t complain too much. Would definitely not buy, though, until this app is sorted out.

[1] please upgrade the firmware on that Zing (the shaking icon is a known bug that had been fixed in a firmware patch last year), see here for instructions: https://zingcare.freshdesk.com/a/solutions/articles/43000468534-how-to-update-the-firmware-on-my-zing [2] you can soft reboot the zing by holding down the button on the backside, see: https://zingcare.freshdesk.com/a/solutions/articles/43000445924-how-to-reboot-your-zing [3] The presets are triggered by events (i.e. you can configure what light is shown when power goes out, movement detected, button pressed, etc.)
Not good
Response from developer
Hi Jake, Thanks for the feedback. We're looking into ways to update the lights in the background or automatically. Right now we wanted people to be aware of what is happening on their device so we made it an explicit action. As far as the speed, it's mostly a limitation in bluetooth bandwidth. We are also working on multi-light setup so you only have to setup once.
MANY promises, FEW Truths
Further, the model at Home Depot has no USB C port, no Alexa or Google Home integration (that lie is printed directly on the box) and there are NO motion notifications, NO Bluetooth device finding ability, NO notifications for calls, texts or emails (which are ALL in their terrible app!)
Why are they expending ANY effort to get a different (garbage!) model in stores when many of the people who backed this and paid to make it happen have received nothing but infuriating excuses?
This thing is a pathetic, expensive scam.
Response from developer
Hi, We're working on Alexa and Google Home integration but it isn't on the box which is confusing. Maybe you mean the kickstarter campaign? The bluetooth device finding feature was in the app but people were confused so we removed it until people receive their key finders. As for motion notifications, notifications for calls and text, all work well for other users. We have had a few issues with outages on our servers but they have been operating well recently. Please contact us at zingcare.freshdesk.com if you want help configuring any of the features.
I’ve just started evaluating my Zings
They aren’t frauds: they function as motion-sensing nightlights and power-outage beacons and (when the internal battery is charged) independent, mobile, in-case-of-emergency light sources.
I haven’t connected the individual one or the network, or configured through Bluetooth, but I’ll check back when I do.
Response from developer
Thanks for your support! We're doing our best to make the app as intuitive to use as possible. We would love any feedback you can give us.
Zing night light is a scam buyer beware
Do not purchase the zing night lights as you will never receive the product. They have conducted a kickstarter and indi campaign and have refused to fulfill orders to the backers of the project. They have also refused to provide any update or reply to anyone on these platforms. See for yourself by checking out their campaign pages. All they did was fulfill a few users and then ran off.
Response from developer
Hi, we're fulfilling them as quickly as we can make them. We had thousands of backers and we have shipped thousands of Zings. If you have any further questions feel free to email us at support@zing.fm, we actually have been responding.
Refund needed
I just received my 6 zing device and I need a refund. The product/app does not hold any of my pre-set and I have to reset it every day. The product is not any different from a $5 night light if none of the functions is saved.
