Good when it works, inconsistent though

Far be it from me to pile on to an affordable alternative to an expensive range of hardware but it seems the consistency just isn’t there. Despite following the setup guidelines, troubleshooting based on others’ experiences and reading through some of the developer’s suggestions in the review chain, I just wasn’t able to get a consistent chain of captured swings on the range. I’m sure there might be some user error component but I haven’t been to pinpoint it just yet. I’ll stick with it and am hopeful accuracy and consistency are improved.

Honestly probably the quickest I’ve ever deleted an app I have tested

I downloaded this app after seeing it on an instagram add and had my suspicions about it and well my expectations were about a 5-8 out of ten well when my drive goes 220 and it says 112 I know something was up so I hit my 34 degree 7 iron and hit a terrible shot(which I meant to) and I launched it 60-70 degrees of launch angle and it said 4 degrees and so I hit a perfect shot with the same club and got another wrong result and overall I want to just say don’t waist your money or time on this app it would honestly be better in the long run to buy a portable launch monitor. It was more inaccurate than I thought and also I hit more 7 iron shots and my best 7 iron shot ever went 155 yards carry well it said I had a 240 yard carry with a 7 iron that 240 would be a lucky carry with my cobra f9 speedback driver which is the best driver I’ve ever owned I improved over 40 yards compared to my previous Taylor made r 7. If anyone is still reading this please don’t get this app. Sorry to the developers but to me and with my results most terrible app I’ve ever tried or tested

Hi cameron_ross3, thanks for taking the time to write a review. There are quite a few independent reviews on YouTube and we’re also working on our own that will be out very soon. Your distances and inaccuracies sound like one of 2 things, either vibration or the device wasn’t calibrated correctly. Place a towel under your device or tripod to minimize vibration and also remember not to pick the device up or move it around as this might disturb the calibration. We’d love it if you get in touch at support@shotvisionapp.com so we can help you with the inaccuracies. Alternatively please read through the instructions in the app carefully again and give it another go, we promise you won’t be disappointed. All the best

Love the app, but not 100% on the numbers.

I love and it’s ease of use, but after hitting into a net I took it to a range, first shot, 7i went 200m, problem was it was a mis-hit and was luck to make the 50m marker.

Some numbers seem fine, others seem way off.

Hi Steve2daDee, thanks for taking the time to write a review and also for the great feedback, we really appreciate it. We have released an update that will cancel out some long reads we have been getting so please look out for that. Also we are always improving and fine tuning our algorithms to make it even better. Another issue you might be experiencing is vibration, especially considering your miss hit that went 200, be sure to put a folded golf towel or something shock absorbent under the tripod or device to minimize vibration. All the best

Definitely worth it

It seemed a bit fiddly at first to set up but once I got the hang of it it’s a breeze. Stand the phone/tablet on a towel with something solid on the towel to rest it against. Put a strong light next to it so the ball appears brighter and hang a black or dark sheet to provide a contrasting background. Make sure the suggested distances are within 6-12 inches and that’s it. I occasionally get a strange distance but if you swipe across on the stats page these can be deleted. The club and ball speeds are always directly and exactly related (depending on club) so for example the 8 iron smash factor is always 1.32 regardless of how good or bad you hit it. Still, for £40 a year it’s fantastic value

Hi 4276849, thanks for taking the time to write a review and the awesome feedback we really appreciate it. We are always working and improving on our app so look out for future updates. All the best

Can be frustrating!

Firstly I just want to say for the money this is all that awful but certainly is frustrating. I’m fairly familiar with my yardages and I found this app just shouted random numbers at me. I would hit a 5 iron fat and get a reading of 150 yards then straight out the middle and get 115 yards?

I altered the camera and angles and lighting and still couldn’t get a reading I felt was accurate. Occasionally you would get some read fairly well but if your looking to seriously understand your yardages it not ideal.

Comparing to the garmin G80 and some of the top end launch monitors I guess for £6.99 a month you could have abit of fun with it and after all it is just your phone or tablet.

In the future I think they will only improve and get better but for now I just can’t enjoy the experience.

Hi tylersm4rty, thanks for taking the time to write a review and we’re sorry to hear that your experience was less than satisfactory. Please get in touch at support@shotvisionapp.com, we’d love to get you the results that you are looking for, it’s usually a small setup issue so we want to work with you to figure it out. We hope to hear from you and all the best.

Just not right yet

Downloaded and gave pro mode a decent go. Really loved the concept but the readings were so far out at times that its use became a distraction. Perhaps my iphone camera is not the most up to date? (Iphone 6). Would love to give it another go once the accuracy issues can be sorted to a margin or error that is useful. P

Hi Hubbyz101, thanks for taking the time to write a review we appreciate it. The iPhone 6 unfortunately is not a supported device this is why you were getting a lot of inconsistencies, there is a list of supported devices on the App Store. The app works on the iPhone 6S and newer devices. If you ever upgrade your phone give it another shot, we’re confident you will really love it. All the best

Fantastic Instant Feedback

It may not be as accurate as the well known flight monitors that cost hundreds and thousands of dollars. It doesn’t have the fancy features that simulate your shot’s flight path. But for about $3 a month, it announces the carry distance that correlate how well you swing your shots. My friends are all amazed at how much I improved.

Difficult start but now flying!

At first there were plenty of teething problems but with some perseverance and amazing support frothed guys at a shot Vision I absolutely love this app. It has made home practice sessions fun and I have managed to develop my game, learns out my distances and work on controlling my distance all from the comfort of my own garden.
The advice about a little tripod for you phone is spot on and once you set up is on point your away! Tried the free trial and then went pro and plan to stay that way until the end of lockdown here on the UK. Some sanity I. These crazy times. Thank all you to the whole team at shot vision!

Hi The Abys, thanks for taking the time to write a review and also for the amazing feedback, we really appreciate it. We also hope you will use the app beyond the lockdown as we’re planning on bringing out new modes and games on a regular basis. All the best.

Good concept .... not very accurate

The app does a pretty good job but most shots come up at least 15-20 yards short than the real yardages. The app struggles to pick up shots in low light also. Okay for £6 a month (pro version) but it could do with some refinement such as recording & storing all shot data etc. until features like this are included I won’t be renewing the pro subscription

Hi GDC87, thanks for taking the time to write a review, we really appreciate it. We are aware that distances might read a little short in certain light conditions, we have an update coming out very soon that will provide a fix for this. As for the the recording of all data, it is all saved in your session feed, if you go into your session and rotate your device all the data is accessible. Please feel free to contact us on support@shotvisionapp.com if you have any questions.

Full version is very good

Was able to go through the full version of the app and whilst there are still adjustments to be made I found it very good. Especially on the wedges. I was able to hit my numbers almost bang on most of the time. Of course just like many of the launch monitors it is prone to a misread here and there but you can simply delete that and get an accurate reading on the averages. Very excited to take these numbers on course and see how dialed in they are.
