  • Great Experience

I often loose phones and forget to download all my “essential” apps and when I do, I forget how great Swoot is.

Easy search, centralized podcasts and I get to see what my friends are watching.
  • 5⭐️'s if...

Liking the app so far but... Needs to have the ability to Star your favorite podcast episodes.
  • Love the Idea

Amazing idea but needs some work in implementation.
Gave it 5 star supposing it’s team working on it. Don’t like to migrate to another app as I listen to a loooot of podcasts (more than 150 all together) so I wish Swoot make the app flawless and usable. Thanks anyway for making the ideas real.
  • Great tool!

So glad my friend Amma Marfo recommended this to me. No more lamenting on how challenging it is to find some listen worthy podcasts.
  • Good idea, lousy implementation

    Thoughts on Swoot:
+ Good privacy policy/ToS. Smells like PIPEDA and GDPR.
    + Supports OPML import/export!
    + Fairly intuitive interface
+ Supports downloading and streaming playback
    - No ability to add arbitrary RSS URLs, which defeats the point of an open podcast ecosystem and removes Swoot from consideration as a real podcast player.
    - VERY slow (on my iPhone 6)
    - Playing a podcast makes my phone hot
    - Used 12% of my battery for 45 minutes of listening
    - No MP3 Chapter support
    - No support for password-protected feeds
    - Tab bar disappears when resuming the app from background
    - No silence removal feature
    - Very long sign-up flow that requires an email
    - OPML import missed several of my shows
    - No sleep timer
    - Skip forward and backward takes a very long time when playing above 1.25x
    - Player view has a down arrow to indicate how to dismiss it, but swiping down does nothing. You have to tap the button all the way at the top of the screen.

EDIT: Thank you for your reply! I’m glad to hear that you’re planning to add most of these features to Swoot. However, the fact that “play an arbitrary RSS feed” wasn’t in your Minimum Viable Product strongly indicates to me that you don’t care about podcasting as an open ecosystem. When you’re adding new features, you should figure out how to add that one first.

    Developer Response

Thanks for the thoughtful and thorough feedback! Happy to report that most of the missing features you mention are ones we plan to add. We just released the app to the public a week before your review so it's not full featured just yet. :) We take performance issues seriously as well and it is an area we're always focused on and are constantly improving.
  • Love it! Use it everyday!

This app is fantastic. Everyday on my commute I’m able to listen to my podcasts, and see what my friends are listening to! Love the recommend feature. Can’t wait to see what other social features they will add! (Podcast discussion groups, maybe?)
  • Love being able to share with friends

    Love swoot
  • Social Podcasts

A really good podcast app that make podcasts social, and helps make it easy and fun to discover new podcasts.
  • No Facebook

Using Facebook to populate any data into an app is just wrong these days. It would be better and more secure to let me enter my friend data instead of giving Facebook more data on me and my friends. I'll stick with Overcast.

    Developer Response

Agree that data privacy is very important to consider when signing up for apps, but would like to clarify that 1) Facebook is just one option for signing up (alongside Google and plain old email) and 2) we don't share listening data back to Facebook at all. It's simply used to find friends which is what makes Swoot special compared to other apps. Thanks for trying it out!
  • Love the idea

I always wanted the ability to see what other people were listening to, so this is perfect. Knowing what my friends are listening to is a great way to find good stuff to listen to. It can also be a great conversation starter when you both listened to the same thing.
