  • Second time round

I tried slimming World a few years ago but just couldn’t grasp the concept. Fast forward a few years and I thought I would give it another try and this time it worked.i lost 5lbs the first week which was amazing.
Further reading of the books and I have gained more understanding. Add on the app and being able to scan syne items is awesome Looking forward to fitting back into the other half of my clothes.

Five weeks further on and I have lost a total of 9lbs . Maintained over Christmas which was awesome. Now have five weeks to loose another 5lbs to reach my target of 1 stone. Will continue on and pay my way now. I hope to loose a few more pounds and fit Into all my clothes equally and comfortably. It’s been a very enlightening few weeks and given my mental health a much needed boost. Thank you slimming world xxx

  • Almost Perfect

This app is much better than it used to be a couple of years ago. HOWEVER, I would recommend they add a feature to be able to download your planner, export it as PDF or some other way. This would Be beneficial for new member and existing memebers alike. This would enable you to be able to share your food diary with other member and especially your consultant. It would reduce paper waste too (unless it gets printed) because you’d no longer need the food diaries in the starter pack and consultants wouldn’t need to hand as many out. I’d also like the option to keep ‘My progress’ open, so every time I open the app I can see it without having to click it. This was something that I was able to do on the old app. Maybe also find somewhere else for the ‘my action plan’ to go. You guys are doing a great job, thank you!

  • Excellent tool for motivation, goal setting and organising

I find using the slimming world app extremely useful for several reasons. I’ve never tried to get healthy in a determined organised manner and the app helps to me to organise eating, exercise, and social activities thus minimising potential pit falls. I like the scanner when shopping which helps me change my shopping behaviours . For me this is a huge psychological and behavioural change. I also like the planning and exercise elements of the app. I can look back at easily see if I’ve attained my weekly goals , where I’ve slipped up and what I need to try and modify. All of this is providing me with the motivation and visual aide to make the lifestyle and behavioural changes needed to attain and maintain a healthier lifestyle.

  • A huge leap forward

Having been an on and off member since 2016 I can say the app is so so so much better now. Love that you can now scan items to track it makes it so much easier and more and more items are being added from the ability to scan packaging if not currently on there.

I would suggest to make it better you have an option on the homepage for the scanner just whilst out shopping - not to add to the planner just a quick check version.

It would also be good in the long run to be able to connect with other apps; particularly for body magic. For example my Apple Watch tracks my activity into my phones activity and health section. It would be great for this to be able to connect to not have to add activity manually.

  • Great for checking syns & keeping track!

First time using the app and I’ve found it great to check syns, fill in my food diary and keep track of my exercise and weigh ins! The only downside is it’s difficult to add your own recipes by the ingredients (almost impossible), and also you can’t add fractions of your HeA & HeB - ie I use half of my milk in hot drinks through the day and half in an omelette, I have to remember I’ve used half my milk/cheese etc and not to add it again. Apart from that it’s much easier to use! Oh, and I’m a vegetarian but my family aren’t - so as I registered as a vegetarian, I only get veggie recipes when I search - no biggie but I like to make meals for us all (theres 6 of us in total) and replace the meat in my dish... so it would make life easier :-)

  • A lot better than the previous one!

I’ve came back to SW after 10 months and I’ve found a huge change! I really like the barcode scan option and the fact that I don’t need to physically write down what I eat anymore. There is something, though, that needs improving in my opinion.
For example, I like splitting my Healthy A over the day between Milk and different kinds of cheese, but I can’t say that I ate just 1/2 (as we can do with other food). So I end up synning my cheese on the app while still having a lot of Healthy A allowance to be used. Another thing I do is eat a slice of bread in the morning (1/2 allowance) and one for dinner (1/2 allowance), but I can’t split the amount on the app. Also, I can’t have something Like one slice of bread and 20 Pistachios and that’s a shame. It’s either the whole amount or syn it. It would be really useful to extend at least the 1/2 and 1/4 portion feature to the Healthy A and B food too! Would you please consider it? Thanks!

Hi there, thanks so much for your review an a warm welcome back. Pleased to hear you like the new changes. I've passed your feedback over to the teams to see if we can work on that half Healthy Extra option too. Happy 2021 Helen x
  • The app is a big let down

It could be a really powerful tool, but the search falls short of the mark and when leaving feedback for improvements they weren’t even noted. Improvements which would help - an intelligent search which looks up items as you type rather than waiting for you to press enter and look through returns, the search should take regularly used items as priority and appear at the top of the search. Reminders for things like a third speed would have been super helpful to someone who is new to this; encourage people to actually do what the books say would be a big help! Think about how users use an app, I’ve searched, selected my item, added to planner, a box appears and I have to wait for that to disappear, and to clear the search before continuing. I cook the same recipes weekly - so the ability to add my own rather than adding by ingredient weekly would also encourage me to want to use the app: the book and paper is easier - which is a let down!

All in all, so many user friendly things could be done to improve the app but the feedback seemingly is not wanted. Massive shame.

  • Could be better...

I have tried a few diet apps over the years but find this one is quite primitive and unwieldy compared to others like Carb Manager or MealPrepPro. Why not able to automatically adjust recipe quantities? I am single so cooking for one, yet almost every recipe is for a family of four and when I queried this was told by SW Support to “just do the math”. Why it is not possible to have the capability to easily copy over an item you ate the day before? It would also be good if you could save your favourite recipes into your own named ‘Collections’ so you can find easily. Or copying over a recipe which can be adjusted to remove or add items and saving into ‘My Foods’? Why does the app not automatically load up the current date? Why is it not possible to adjust food quantities like eating 150 grams of something instead of 100 grams? A pin wheel mode option would be helpful. The app needs to come into the 21st century. It’s too basic. It could be really good if a few adjustments were made to make it more user friendly. Once you download the Food Optimiser guides, would you really need the app and continue to pay?

  • A huge improvement

I’ve been a member since 2018, and I never thought much of the old app. However, this new app has everything I’ve ever wanted from the old one, and it’s so much easier to navigate. The barcode scanner and food diary is a very long overdue addition, which has made food optimising a whole lot easier. Now, instead of scrolling through pages and pages of irrelevant search results on the old syns database, I can now simply scan a product in the shop and get the results right away, so it’s simpler to make healthy choices.

So far I have only come across one product that wasn’t recognised by the scanner, and I was given the option to send photos of the packaging to SW for them to add it on, so it seems as though the database is growing and improving all of the time.

My only complaint is that I’m currently breastfeeding a toddler, so I should only be allowed 3A choices and 1B, but by default the planner shows my allowance as 5As and 3Bs, which is meant for much younger babies. This is misleading and does make logging foods harder.

Hi there! I'm so happy that your finding the app easier than the original app to use 😊. As you've mentioned, the app currently selects the highest quantity of Healthy Extras with a breastfeeding member so the member can decided what Healthy Extras they have per day depending on babies milk dependency. We really appreciate your feedback with this and I have passed this on to our Technical team. Wishing you the very best. Kerry 💖
  • Still some work to do to make it easy to use regularly

    This app is much improved.

A REALLY useful extra thing I’d like to see would be to be able to create your own recipes (not just your own food)- it is an absolute slog to have to input individual ingredients for recipes I use regularly. Following that it is also annoying that even recipes from new books are not on the app- I understand why (wouldn’t sell many books!)- but at least if I only had to save all the ingredients once that would be amazing.

It would be good to be able to repeat recipes and food- that way I can easily use the app as a planner without spending a day inputting things- I’m sure I’m not the only one that can eat the same breakfast and lunch several times a week?!

Also, would be good if weigh ins automatically synced and updated from group into the app.

Would love it if you could export/ print off a weeks food diary to hand into slimming world consultant/ take to health appointments/ personally review. And if there was a way to save a weeks food diary to refer back to that would be useful for if I got stuck with motivation down the line so I could see what I ate to get a good loss/ refer back to a week where I felt really satisfied and happy with what I ate.

Maybe a space for before/after pictures and measurements...?!
