Not a movie slate

It’s OK. You cannot customize anything without paying for it. If you want to use it for movies you’ll have to pay, otherwise it doesn’t make sense to use.

Response from developer

Yes, exactly: it’s a professional tool and you have to pay to use the advanced features (the slate is free)! I don’t know how much you expected to pay for a professional tool, but here the deal is no more than 10 dollars… Anyway I’ll be glad to reply to your feedback at customercare@dslrciak.it.

Why a horrible pixelated digital clock?

Why on earth is the only option for the clock this horrible, hard to read, blocky digital clock. Why not offer some cleaner, easier to read options under settings?

Response from developer

Thank you for your comment. I respect all opinions, even if expressed in hateful tones like yours. The reason for implementing the timecode in pixel art is that it's very legible when captured by the camera, in addition to the fact that I like the retro 8-bit flavor. In any case, when I receive a certain number of requests for this through customer service (www.dslrciak.it/customercare), I will add customization of this element on my roadmap.

Feature rich, elegant UI, ease of use. Amazing value.

Update:
The iPad version allows for making code markers during the recording which is v helpful.
The iPhone version does not.

For podcast recording I like to use my iPhone as the clapper board.
But the neat time code feature doesn’t appear to be included.

Am I missing something?

It’s still an awesome app.

Every now and then an App takes my breath away, not often, but just enough to maintain my faith. This digital clapper board has plainly been developed by a person who understands the triumvirate of videography, technology and user interface design. The details demonstrate this is a master craftsmen at work. - customizing the clapper board info - changing tones - writing scene notes - using the phone as a slave or master making this an autocue device - and the downloadable story board template .png which is then reimported once modified. Genius. [note to developer - it would be neat to be able to reorder scenes once imported. ] I like this so much I’ve added it to my Home Screen. Dev - One more neat feature would be for this to run on the iMac desktop [i tried] then it could be used for screen recordings too.] I did try other Digi boards. The in app ads will drive you nuts. If you value what you’re filming, invest in this app.

Response from developer

Thank you very much! I’m working hard on new features, specifically on the storyboard, to let you cinematographers plan your stories and movies inside the app itself. Keep in touch and, if you feel like so, please write me your ideas and comments at customercare@dslrciak.it.

Glitchy

While on the storyboard page, the screen randomly animates upward leaving only the bottom half of the app visible and the lower half of the screen black with no way to set it right other than to close the app and reopen it only for it to happen again.

Dslr ciak is cool

I like this dslr clapperboard it is awesome

Huge Potential

What a fantastic and versatile app. I have purchased the paid app and is well worth it.

I think I can adapt my current workflow to use this app help with sync and cataloging whilst I really have no justification to spend out on timecoding hardware so this will save a fortune.

There’s a lot more to explore which makes this a great investment and my understanding is that there’s some really interesting stuff in the pipeline from the developer who is keen to optimise this into a powerhouse for film makers and videographers.

Can’t wait to see what they do with an already top notch product.

Thank you very much! In the near future there will be a bunch of new features, in addition to the necessary bug fixings - of course. Any suggestion is welcome to improve the app and its ecosystem of integrated features. As usual write me at customercare@dslrciak.it, or refer to the customer care page on the website.

The money was worth my time

l was hired for a small project as an editor and made the split second decision to purchase the full version just before the first take. I stuck around while filming and used it wherever I could. It made my post production workflow so much easier. I wasn't even using it to it's full potential and still got so much use out of it. Just rating the scenes after the take and knowing which one was the best one is invaluable and saves so much time - can't wait to see the app get even better with time.

Thank you very much. The next major upgrade includes a brand new storyboard section to help you draw your ideas with a series of custom tools designed with that purpose in mind. And then playback, import and export your animatics (spring 2023). Hope it's useful for all of you!

Good but not intuitive

packed with features, but takes time to get the hang of it. Looking forward to step-by-step tutorial on the website.

Thank you for your comment. Step-by-step guide on its way! Stay tuned.

Great layout but crashes

When I save a customized template design for the slate and then try to select it for use, the app crashes and closes. I’m only allowed to choose the preset templates. I purchased the full version, I would hate to think I wasted my money.

Response from developer

Hi, yes it was a known bug but it's been fixed in version 5.54. Now it's working regularly. Sorry for that and thank you for your report. If you want to get in touch, please write me at customercare@dslrciak.it.

Found a bug.

I love the ability to customize the slate to my needs. However, after creating a custom slate the app won’t let me load it for a new project. I can see the list of saved slates but it will not load it. Additionally, after trying to load a saved slate and failing if I then go to load one of the built-in templates the app crashes. It is highly repeatable… it happens every time. If I go straight to the templates it allows me to load them but not after trying to load a built-in one.

I am using an iPad Air 4 on iOS 15.7.1.
