Finally am able to journal every day

I felt compelled to write this review as I was looking and the app doesn’t have too many recent good reviews. I can’t understand why not!

I have always wanted to do a daily journal but have either found it too difficult to think of what to write, or thought of it as yet another “to do” that loomed over me which I would generally avoid doing. I have ADHD and suffer from depression and anxiety, all of which would be improved by journaling, but also make it more difficult to do!

The reasons I think this app is perfect for me are:

- I do not feel the need to fill in all the grids, one is enough to satisfy my “daily input” so it doesn’t feel like a big chore
- having prompts gives me a starting point to jump into writing. I often find that it is much easier to move into introspection from here.
- I love that you can change to prompts to something more relevant for yourself
- you can add photos and images (this is very good for me as I take so many photos)
- the text formatting options are quick and convenient to use
- you can view the entries in a few different ways, for example on a timeline, from a calendar
-it’s simple and clean visually, not distracting

I should note I am using the free version and am finding it perfect for my needs. I am not entirely sure what additional functionality you get with a paid subscription, but I would definitely consider it if that were made more clear.

I have recommended this app to several people in my life, and feel very happy to write a positive review.

Good update

Enjoyed the classic version and now think the update is an improvement. Not sure I understand the purpose of what use I can make of something called Tags but I only use one journal with only one template so probably not relevant. The one thing that would be better for me is to see the working page make more effective use of what looks like a lot of space. I prefer to see all my journal entries on one page but each grid cuts off the information after 5 lines. The information is still there of course but just doesn’t show in that view but the amount of what looks like unused available space is a bit frustrating. Update After A Few Months Still liking the app but will follow with interest the paid version as the pricing at $19 annually seems considerably higher than what’s generally found with other apps. Another Update They took away the painful subscription marketing that preceded access to our data. It was just way too much when compared to other apps and is now simply easily found within the app instead of force feeding the user. Given the comparatively very high pricing I’m a bit doubtful there’ll be many takers though.

Response from developer

Hello! Thank you so much for your support and awesome suggestions! We will definitely improve the user experience in future updates!

Incredible app

Syncs well. Hoping for a web interface so I can update while at work. Love the app and has really helped me. Love the grid format and ability to go through my day in organized manner. Suggestion: like to update/edit existing templates instead of having to recreate template. Overall, absolutely love this app and the peace it’s offered. I’m a subscriber!

My new favorite app.

I have been looking for an app where I can create a few of my own journal prompts for everyday (it’s too much to write down everyday). This app is perfect. The visual is perfect. So much improvement from the last app in terms of functions. As a college student, I really appreciate how many functions the free version offers. I LOVE the daily, weekly, yearly options. This app is perfect. Please never ever take this app down.

Entries missing

I spent a long time writing my diaries, only to find out that they were not saved.

This has happened at least five times. And today I just found out that it happened again to a few diaries that I wrote a year ago. They simply disappeared.

This app has very nice features, and I did want to stick with it, but unfortunately, it lacks the most fundamental feature: SAVING THE DIARIES!

I am very upset by this. I have complained to customer support a few times, but they completely ignored me.

Good app overall

I like that I can use a great selection of journal prompts while also having the flexibility of creating my own. There was a stretch around December 2024 where the app was behaving oddly on my MacBook , but this has since been fixed. Has always worked perfectly on my phone.

Question: viewing a log of single grid

I don’t know where to send questions to, but I was wondering if there is a way to view only a single grid log?

Let’s say I have a grid that is for exercise, it’s easier for me to look at my progress just for that grid as a list rather than seeing every other grid allocated for everything when I flip through the pages. It would be nice to be able to scroll through my log just for one grid or be able to look at it as a log on a page that I can scroll.

Almost a good app…

It seemed great the first day I used it, but when I went to answer the questions I had put into my journal, they were all different the next day. I use a popular method where I ask myself the same 4 questions every morning, so I did not want their random prompts. I figured I just needed to save my questions as a template, which I did, but when I went to add it to my journal, it wasn’t an option. After about 30+ minutes of trying to figure out how to add my template to my journal so it shows up without me having to re-write them in manually every day, I gave up. I believe there must be a way to do it (or else why have the option for templates?) but the app makes it so difficult and unintuitive that it’s not worth it. This should be an extremely easy feature to find, since I’m sure it’s what a lot of people hope to use it for.

Great app 1 request

Love the app. It’s been a great way for me to get back to journaling.

1 thing I would live to see is the ability to set random prompts for a grid. Maybe have 4 grids on a board and each day it’s a different set of prompts from a preselected few.

Thanks for that app.

Simple & effective - Wish you could print it out!

I’m struggling between choosing Grid Diary and Day One because the latter has the feature to print out the journal which is amazing!! I prefer Grid Diary on every other aspect, but having a physical copy would be amazing! I hope the devs consider it, and I think it would make the app more competitive!
