Pre/Post

Please add pre and post for each individual tack on each aux like all others mixers app. Your app is the best and most intuitive but need it urgent.
I’ll give you an example. Aux 1 lead vocal front monitor, we need it pre fader because we have an individual mix for this aux, but the music channel have to be post fader.

Thanks.

Scary firmware update

Please do what you can to warn people about firmware updates on new app releases. My app updated and running late to a show I got the dreaded can’t connect to the mixer. Panic ensued. Have no physical dock on DL16s shook my confidence. I will be bringing my 1608 as a backup going forward. I don’t understand with a minor bug fix (5.0 to 5.0.1) why a firmware update would render the mixer completely unusable. A major update would make more sense. Update went through and the iPad lost connection to the router with it power cycled, reconnected and all was good. Scary stuff though

Good mixer but mid show connection issues

I like the DL32S mixer and app, but in the middle of my 5th show with the mixer, all the meters go dead and the app has no connection for 5 secs, then reconnects and works for a few seconds, then freezes again, over and over. I’m mixing every few seconds then have no control. Once the show was over I re-powered the mixer and it worked fine, but it’s hard to tell without the entire band player through the mixer. Not sure if it’s a wifi issue. But I would hope Mackie would begin to build redundant control streams or a more solid wifi system. This is very disappointing during a show, especially considering I was sitting 8 feet from the mixer. Hoping for an stability update soon!

When is the master fader 5 update coming for the dL 1608?

When is it coming.

Waiting

App has been out for 2 months and still waiting on the update to make this usable.

Pretty smooth

I’ve done about 40 gigs with the new dl16s and mf5.0. I like it a lot so far and others have pointed out some things about the import so I won’t talk about that.

Only small thing I’d like to add is if in a future update you can add the number pad when typing in levels on the faders. 4.0 it’s done like that and I’m used to it maybe, but it’s a little weird when the whole keyboard pops up for when I want to type out a number.

But overall, really dig how much more fluid the faders and graphic eq has become. Smoooooth stuff. 👍

Been using 5.0 on iPad mini 2, android phone, and iPad 5th gen.

Might update my review as updates come out for mf5.

No compatibility

I had to downgrade to version 4 on a newer iPad to get anything to work, version 4 is so far so good.

Ok, but lacking show import / export

I got a new DL16S to upgrade from a very loved and used DL1608.

I do like the added Android support and the removal of the channel gain knobs. Now the gain is within the app and can be saved for the next show. However, missing from 5.0 is the show import / export that was available in 4.0 with the DL1608. I had hoped to import shows from my old DL1608 onto the newer DL16S, saving me the time to completely rebuild shows on the new platform. Unfortunately, the ability to import is missing in 5.0.

Great control app!

So, i do very much like the lay out of the app especially compared to the soundcraft and the behringer ones.

The mic pres and the over all sound of our dl16s is very good. Surprisingly, it’s noticeably better sounding then my soundcraft expression 3 SI board.

In my original review i said i had problems with clipping even though the app doesn’t show any clipping and thought it was the mackie. Turns out it was not the mackie, but a defective unit in our FOH amp rack.

I love the mixer, which sounds fantastic and I’m enjoying this app.

Note: someone else said in a review here that when you copy and paste a channel it renames the channel, so if channel 1 is named “vox1” and you copy and paste it to 5 other channels, then all 5 pasted channels are now also called vox1. Mackie responded to say that if you just use the “paste processing” option then it wont replace your channel name... well, that is not true for me. “Paste all” and “paste processing” seem to do exactly the same thing, and both do in fact rename your channel.

The only scary issue I’ve had with there being no control surface happened last night for the first time. We were about to start a high profile show at our venue and When i went to connect this app to our mackie dl16s it would not let me and said that our WiFi password had been changed. I am the only one with access to the WiFi password and I didn’t change it so that was very nerve racking. I will say that when this happened i was trying to connect two iPads to the unit (which is supposed to not be a problem, i believe). Seems like connecting both confused the mixer’s built in WiFi router? I was able to get back in by turning WiFi off on both iPads, closing fader master apps on both and then turning on just one of the iPad’s WiFi and connecting just the one iPad. This took a few try’s before it accepted the password and connected. But was fine after, and worked flawlessly for the whole show which lasted from 8pm to 2am, so all was good.

I’ve used this for 8 or so shows now at our venue and that has been the only connection hiccup so far. I’m going to stick to one controller device at a time for now, since that works great so far.
I am using both an iPad 2 and an iPad 2 mini, both with the most up to date iOS.

Having said all that, i would add that this is the best mixer-less, app controlled interface I’ve found, so I’m still pleased with it. Once i work out these few bugs then i will be 100 percent satisfied.

iOS 11 or later

Built my entire operation around the DL-1608.... I’ll run out and purchase 10 new iPADS so Fader 5 will work. NOT! I guess no new updates for me...... or, maybe I will be looking at an alternative brand mixer instead.
