  • Limited access on the iPhone, poor support services

This app is a great introduction to coding and getting kids excited about coding!

My only frustration is that the Tynker app cannot be accessed through the iPhone, only the junior version.

Also, I purchased a lifetime subscription but I had trouble getting into parts of the app and the support has been slow and highly ineffective.

You need to work on your customer success approach.

  • Cute characters the kiddos love

Cute characters and lovely graphics disguise surprisingly complex coding concepts. Must admit I sat and played through all the levels before the kiddos even got their hands on it! Love that blocks are provided so no guessing or searching. Seems like the perfect level of difficulty for kindergarten ages.

  • Glitchy Code

I downloaded this for my 5 year old. She will finish it off in the one week trial. On one hand she loves learning coding and the visual interface makes it fun. But she finished off a game in less than an hour. Another game had a glitch which kept her from progressing. We will be cancelling after the free week because we will have mastered what we can do in this app.

  • Miss leading

I thought since I signed up for a monthly subscription I would continue to advance through the levels and games once I finished. Instead it told me I had to go to the website and PAY again for further games and lessons. That version won’t even work on my iPhone so what’s the point of keeping it. Glad I tested it first.

  • Limited app so far, excited to see how it evolves

First of all, I do think I should note that I was hoping since I had purchased a lifetime subscription on my Tynker computer app that I’d have the option to log into this app and it carry over. That would be a nice perk for those of us who have shelled out $200 for the full version.

I’d like if there were words on the screen and not just a voice over for the prompts. My kids aren’t always somewhere that volume is acceptable (though one of my kids is blind and certainly loves the descriptions). And I have friends with deaf kids, and I know accessibility goes a long way, since being deaf shouldn’t be a barrier in learning to code.

I think having a leveling system, similar to the online version, would be a great motivator for my kids to want to continue to attempt the other apps without getting bored. For the record, my kids are 4,6,7, and 8, so exactly the demographic this app is aimed for.

I know this is new, so I’m just giving suggestions as you guys warm up into the app game world. I’ll keep checking back on updates to see what you come up with. :)
