  • Great, quick reference

Works best once you’ve set up your favs & your dosages. Can print and give to place in file. Shared with all my colleagues.

  • I love this app

This app is so helpful as a Vet Tech at an animal shelter. Many times the vets are in the middle of a surgery and cannot stop to calculate a medication dosage. I have also used it for my own pets for OTC medications. I use it almost everyday.

  • Very helpful app with much potential

I use this app on a daily basis to calculate dosages of various medications, particularly when writing anesthetic protocols. The overall design of the app is quite good, proving that the designers are quite skillful and knowledgeable. The app is not completely flawless yet, and a new drugs/changes in drug concentrations are not always saved as they should. When the order of drugs is changed the app doesn’t seem to always save it either.
One suggestion I would make would be to add the ability to highlight a drug (line item) by clicking on it. This would make it a lot easier to pick dosages out of a large list and avoid making mistakes due to the proximity between numbers. Overall a great app though, well worth the cost. My compliments to the makers!

As a veterinarian and the sole developer of Vetcalculators, I really appreciate your suggestions and comments. Highlighting is something I can add to the next update.
  • wrong equation

the constant for the body surface area for cats should be 10

    Developer Response

Thanks for the feedback. Although the traditional K value for cats has been set as 10, it has always has been a suggested value, based on old studies from the early 1900's and 1967. Some more recent papers suggest the K value is likely higher (~10.4). I used 10 as the value originally but changed it based on more recent data on the Meeh’s formula ( BSA = k(W)⅔). Since most users may be more comfortable with the older value, I will change it back to 10 in the next update.
  • Sensitivity issue or glitch?

This app was recommended by a speaker at a conference so I just paid $12 for it. I have to repeatedly tap on a box to enter information and it may or may not respond so that I can actually put the info in for the calculations to be made. This is a serious waste of time and money if this is as good as it gets. I downloaded it so that I can have something in real time to tell a client. If I have to wait and send an email later the effect is not as great and they likely won’t take me seriously. Especially if I forget to do it. I do Housecalls only so I need the information when I need it.

It seems this sensitivity issue was reported only this one time. (After email correspondence with the user, it was resolved with a restart of the App and no further reports of issues were received). Any additional feedback would be appreciated or an update on the review at some time in the future. Thanks!

Thank you! Adding a sync feature of the added drugs database is in the early stages of development but not quite ready for general use yet. Hopefully in version 3.0
