  • an essential piece of camera hardware

    CamRangerMini is just as useful, and now even more portable, than the original CamRanger from years ago

    However, the new software interface on the iPhone is simply not as intuitive or user-friendly, in terms of visual layout and button sizes compared to the first generation original CamRanger software

    I would absolutely love to see the ability to return to the button, the size and layout of the original CamRanger software, because as it stands right now it’s taking me longer to navigate daily projects on the iphone iteration of this app

  • Minor software issues, manageable hardware issues

    I can work with the occasional hardware issues. Communication issues happen. The thing that bothers me most is that when you are taking photos off of the device and onto the phone or tablet they are randomly ordered and do not auto rotate. I'm sure this could be fixed with some time. If those issues were resolved, I think it would be a five star app.

  • Did I really pay 200 bucks for this?

    I bought the mini because it seems they discontinued the regular CamRanger. The next step up is the very expensive camranger2. Being a compelled hobbyist photographer, the mini fell in my “doesn’t hurt wallet too much” range.

    I got this software and it constantly keeps disconnecting. Also, the screen is black. On my cameras view finder, you can clearly see the image, but on my phone, it’s just black. I can oddly view my memory card but when I go to capture, even though the screen is still black, the app immediately disconnects forcing me to have to disconnect the WiFi and reconnect to the mini. I’m extremely frustrated and disappointed.

  • Useless with iPad Mini 2, crashes constantly

    I shoot portraits and was excited about using this to let clients view images as we shot. I wasn’t thrilled that the mini wouldn’t work with laptops, but I had an iPad Mini 2 around and everything said they were compatible. Well, not so much. The app crashes and disconnects so often that I’ve given up trying to use it in shoots. It’s faster to eject my card and load images on the laptop. I’m debating now whether to sell the camranger mini and wait for the real thing later this year, or spend the money on a newer iPad. Either way, they should not advertise this as compatible with the iPad Mini 2.

  • Needs work

    This app and device are relatively new. I didn’t get a chance to use the older one but this one has some significant issues. Focusing is awefull. You are supposed to just tap on the point to focus on but it misses more times that it hits. This can be frustrating especially as a mid-touch can force it to focus. There are other issues with focus stacking and anywhere where multiple exposures are programmed. It seems to have problems with feedback from the camera. Hoping they will fix these issues soon.

  • It’s Great!

    I’ve been using the CamRanger mini with my Canon 5D IV for real estate photography for the past few months and everything has worked exactly as expected. I used to shoot with a camera that had a flip out screen and knew I needed something like the CamRanger when I switched to the 5D since I wouldn’t be able to see the screen when the camera was placed in a corner (as it so often is). The ability to work from an iPad with a big bright screen and have control over many camera functions is amazing. Definitely worth every penny!

  • Not good

    I purchased camranger mini, downloaded this application, I was able to connect my tablet or iPhone to my camranger mini for 2 5 seconds then it will disconnect, I turned and on and off my camera and the camranger mini , cables , batteries are ok but it keeps on saying camera not connected. I reset it then my camera was connected again, then it will disconnect again. Application controls very slow to respond.

  • Awesome product and support!

    I recently bought the camranger mini and noticed something wasn’t working as I thought it was supposed to. I emailed support on a Saturday not expecting a response until Monday morning. I received a response a few hours later and we emailed back and forth a few times trying to figure out the issue until somewhat later in the night. Wasn’t expecting that! I don’t expect support teams to be up that late on these things but one of their support staff was.

    He emailed me back the next morning saying an update would be posted the next morning fixing the issue. Great support for sure

    The product itself so far has been wonderful for all of the commonly advertised reasons.
