Love the Yoto player And app!!!

We had a Tony box, but decided not to use it because my daughter is 12 years old and does not enjoy it so we got the Yoto player and she loves it!! I think the Yoto player would be best for kids about 5+ and the Tony box about ages 0 to 5 and that’s about it!! I think the towing box would be great for younger kids, but not no older than five! maybe seven or so depending on your child!! and the Yoto cards are cheaper!

That's great to know Okay ✅🤷‍♀️! Glad she's loving it and we wish you many more hours of fun, learning and entertainment with your player.

Perfect for our toddler

We got the yoto mini to entertain our toddler on long car rides and she loves it. We use it all the time, in and out of the car. the pre school songs pack is fantastic and the songs are so catchy we all sing along!

Best on the market

TL;DR : way better than tonie. Great buy for screen time conscious parents that still want independent kids. 10/10 recommend.

This device has the feel and experience of analog combined with the convenience of digital.

You use cards as your “cassettes/CDs”. They’re the size of hotel keys. Durable. Toddler friendly. And if you lose one, you can reload a blank card from the library on your phone.

I love it for my kids. I am pretty strict on screen time and conscious of their media intake.
The yoto gives them independence in choosing their own songs and stories without worrying about the device breaking or access to unsavory content.

The “screen” is like a lite bright but more subtle. Each song or story has a different image. This makes the device engaging but not addicting. You can set alarms for waking up. Lots of customization available. You can limit the max volume and the max brightness.

Super travel friendly. Amazing variety of options for sounds, songs and stories. Can control the entire thing from your phone if you want.

We. Love. It.

Now please add Aladdin, Lion King and Tangled soundtracks!!

Laggy connection

Wi-Fi sounds play fine through phone. As soon as you program yoto your get glitchy interruptions

Response from developer

Hi Bsndisnsisns - if you're experiencing lagging on your player please contact us at hello@yotoplay.com to give you some assistance. It may be that your content hasn't fully downloaded or that your player wifi signal isn't strong but if you contact us I'm sure we can get you up and running.

Love the product, shoddy app

So, so difficult to set up, and so hard to use on the move. It needs near perfect wifi/mobile reception to work if you’re trying to play stories on the move.

Thanks for the reply Yoto, but I’m not doing anything wrong, so I don’t need a support ticket, your app is just rubbish - only works when there’s near perfect wifi/signal. Please make the content downloadable so that you can listen on the move / when away from home.

Sorry to hear that Whbhall - we always listen to our customers and we strive to make the best app experience possible, always improving and always fixing things that don't work as well as expected. The offer to contact us for assistance was related to difficulty setting up but if not required all is good. The good news is we're working on phone downloads right now to help our customers to play on the go. If you'd like early access when we're ready to show it to a small group of early beta testers you can drop me a line at ed@yotoplay.com to get added.

Great player, terrible app.

The player is great, works well and the kids love them . The app needs updating badly, it is so glitchy and buggy.

Amazing for Us

I absolutely love the Yoto player, but the app is by far my favorite part. I like that I can control it from my phone or listen from my phone in the car without having to worry about getting cards out. I have a 2 year old who loves to change the cards at will lol so it’s also nice to have the app as backup when he is looking for a specific track.
I will say, much like their actual website, there are a few lags here and there which can be a little frustrating when we’re in “toddler meltdown” mode. Other than that, I cannot recommend this enough. I even recommend it to all my friends who bought Tonies.

Thanks for the review and feedback NicoleA21, that's so great to hear!

Extremely slow and dated software that is frequently unreliable

I absolutely love Yoto, but my biggest gripe is how often it fails to do the very basic. The volume switch I keep turning and turning and turning and it does barely anything. Trying to change the settings is all very well but you have to be on a Wi-Fi network at the same time. I tried this on holiday and it never worked once I just couldn’t connect to the Wi-Fi

Would also like to add that I bought 4 new cards to use on holiday where I have no Wi-Fi and none of the new cards work, because I apparently need Wi-Fi. Waste of money and confirmed I will now sell the lot and go to Toni

Sorry to hear that michaelsimpson! It sounds like you may have a faulty transcoder on your player if it’s turning and not changing the volume (or could be you’ve set a low maximum volume in settings). Please reach out to us at hello@yotoplay.com for some assistance. As for connecting to the player without wifi, there is the possibility we may use BLE in the future. We constantly update our software to make our players and ecosystem better and better. On holiday it may be that you’re trying to connect to a hotel network with Captive Portal - there are ways around this if you search our facebook group (it’s advanced and requires the MAC address you’ll find in the app). Alternatively you can connect the player to a phone hotspot to get connectivity. Let us know if you need any assistance.
