Great story and love the artwork. The issue of cut off text can be frustrating. With the team working on ep.2 I doubt we’ll get a fix.

Captivating, dynamic storytelling
Engaging from start to finish, including countless options that will keep you guessing (and second guessing) every step of the way. Guardian Maia is as powerful as it is fun. Masterfully conceived, brilliantly executed.

Beautiful all over
From the story to the interesting choices to the intriguing characters to the smatterings of indigenous words (all with in-text glossary definitions) this game is beautifully crafted and stunningly presented. The images are superbly done and the flow of the story is not at all undermined or disrupted by the player making choices.
Combat’s a little easy to cheese on replays, not relying on clever tactical chaining of moves, but it’s easily made up for by the creative branching storyline. The choices are often all equally reasonable and really let you play as you wish, with only a few leading to immediate denials (ie. death). I’m looking forward to the future instalments with bated breath - fairly sure I’ve made some ‘poor’ choices that will bite me later but hey! In the meantime, I have this cool cloak!

It has a well-written, engaging story and exciting gameplay in an original setting. One of the most visually pleasing text adventures I’ve seen.
Amazing! Only one concern
First off I hate to read but this had me hooked the entire time. It’s simply amazing. The only issue I have is when your choices pop up it blocks the story and it’s unable to read. Please try and remedy this before Chapter 2. Otherwise keep up the great work!!!
Compelling Characters
I’m usually not a fan of choose-your-own-adventure stories, but this one was fantastic. Maia is an immediately relatable protagonist. I really cared about her to the point of worrying about how each decision would affect her fate. Even the villain is interesting and sympathetic. The story so far is a bit of a hero’s journey with a Maori twist. Looking forward to the next installment.
