Got a warning on Facebook for violating community standards by sharing this app
What in the world! I apparently (don’t even remember) posted a link to this app on Facebook a week ago, and I got a warning that my content was removed for violating community standards! Specifically, it says “Spam. We don’t allow people to share or send anything that contains misleading links or content.” Is there something shady going on here? I’m removing this app in case it is predatory somehow unless the organization can explain.Show lessMGM92581

It appears that Facebook/Meta has mistakenly flagged our app links as spam recently, for no apparent reason and without giving us any explanation. It also appears that this has been resolved as we have tested sharing the links today and they are working fine. I just don’t love the fact that I have to give plaid my username and password for my bank account. I’d love to connect my card but I’m just not comfortable with that. I’ve heard Etsy does a manual verification, so maybe that would be better? Entering my banking password just goes against literally everything I’ve ever been taught lolShow lessIhate3dbitmojis446
Refuse to link my card because they use Plaid
This looks like a really cool app, but unfortunately it’s not for me. I took the quiz, and learned some unique eco-friendly facts which was a plus! However, in order to take advantage of this app’s most prominent feature- tracking your carbon footprint through your purchases, you must give the third-party app, Plaid, access to your bank information.
If you look through the agreement for Plaid’s access to your bank account, you will see they are not only accessing your bank transactions but your Taxes for the previous 2 years INCLUDING your Social Security Number.
In the summer of 2022 Plaid was found guilty of breaching customer privacy by collecting more data than was authorized AND then selling customer data. They paid $58 million in a class action lawsuit.
Do not trust Plaid, there is no reason for them to require your tax information or SSN to assess your purchases’ carbon footprint.Show lessvettechstudent12345567

Free money for living sustainably!
I just found out today that I made $55 in rewards just by using Commons and making sustainable choices. Becoming aware of which purchases made a more positive impact on the earth made me feel more empowered. Receiving money back was a bonus!!

Limited support for Canadian banks
Super cool concept. But very few banks in Canada seem to be supported. Including Tangerine and ScotiabankNawe19
