Reviews of PaperKarma

  • Photo scanner is garbage

So I think big picture this app is gradually working but the catalog photo scanner works basically never which was the biggest selling point of paying for the service versus using another free manual service. I honestly don’t understand how the scanner is so bad. The suggestions it gives after I take a photo of catalog logo are so wildly off, it would be funny if it weren’t so consistent and so irritating. And as far as I can tell, you can’t bypass the photo, so I have to have the go through this frustrating experience each time I receive a catalog.
  • Not effective, by design

This developer may very well send a desist request to junk mailers on your behalf, but what they hope you don’t know is that those mailers are not legally obligated to honor a request by someone else on your behalf. They’ll take your money and perform a service, but be aware that their service could have literally no effect on the amount of junk mail you receive. UPDATE: The developer response to this review does not manage to contradict this premise at all, but rather simply claims that they presume to leverage good “relationships” with some companies (although not all, with one “bad actor” being the US Postal Service itself). Further, customer reviews “point to” an efficacy rate markedly less than 90%.

    Developer Response

Hi there. Our data, relationships with most mailers, and feedback loop from users point to a 90% success record. We make clear in our FAQs and ToS that there will be always be some bad actors, including the USPS with their EDDM product.
  • Excellent! Greatly reduced the amount of junk in my box

Over the past few years both of my wife’s parents passed away. We began receiving stacks of catalogs and duplicate mailers from charities and advertisers. Over the past year I have used the app daily to remove my in-laws, wife and my own junk mail by submitting entries to the app. The fruit of my labor was realized this Christmas when the number of catalogs went from about 30 a week to 1 or 3 a week. Thank you so much for saving trees the landfills and my sanity.

    Developer Response

So glad we could help! Thank you.
