Lifetime Sub not recommended here’s why…

So I bought a lifetime subscription after using PaperKarma for about a year just paying the annual and I like what they do. I think it does help stop a lot of junk mail however I got logged out and I forgot the password and when I was trying to log back in, it was saying oh do you want to renew your membership? and I was like what is it talking about? I have a lifetime membership??? and it just kept going back to that even when I went for support so I give up I’m just gonna pay $25 a year because I do like the service and I guess they need the money so I do not recommend the lifetime because it’s not going to be a lifetime membership, just give them the extra money. They probably really need it…. or don’t be a member. Your choice.

Works and makes a difference!

I have been using this app since 2015 to make a visible dent on junkmail. I am happy to report that this app really works: The reporting process it follows actually leads to results, and it makes it pretty seamless to request to be taken off list.

It's great to have a way to fight back because the truth is advertisers don't think you'll take the time.

Photo scanner is garbage

So I think big picture this app is gradually working but the catalog photo scanner works basically never which was the biggest selling point of paying for the service versus using another free manual service. I honestly don’t understand how the scanner is so bad. The suggestions it gives after I take a photo of catalog logo are so wildly off, it would be funny if it weren’t so consistent and so irritating. And as far as I can tell, you can’t bypass the photo, so I have to have the go through this frustrating experience each time I receive a catalog.

Not effective, by design

This developer may very well send a desist request to junk mailers on your behalf, but what they hope you don’t know is that those mailers are not legally obligated to honor a request by someone else on your behalf. They’ll take your money and perform a service, but be aware that their service could have literally no effect on the amount of junk mail you receive. UPDATE: The developer response to this review does not manage to contradict this premise at all, but rather simply claims that they presume to leverage good “relationships” with some companies (although not all, with one “bad actor” being the US Postal Service itself). Further, customer reviews “point to” an efficacy rate markedly less than 90%.

Response from developer

Hi there. Our data, relationships with most mailers, and feedback loop from users point to a 90% success record. We make clear in our FAQs and ToS that there will be always be some bad actors, including the USPS with their EDDM product.

Excellent! Greatly reduced the amount of junk in my box

Over the past few years both of my wife’s parents passed away. We began receiving stacks of catalogs and duplicate mailers from charities and advertisers. Over the past year I have used the app daily to remove my in-laws, wife and my own junk mail by submitting entries to the app. The fruit of my labor was realized this Christmas when the number of catalogs went from about 30 a week to 1 or 3 a week. Thank you so much for saving trees the landfills and my sanity.

So glad we could help! Thank you.

Best app

After using for nearly 3 years, I must say that this was the best service we’ve paid for. We paid for the life time plan. Mailer gets tricker too like sometimes flip my first and last name but all I need is to add more address and details and then I don’t get the mail from them anymore. It takes time of course but it definitely does work every time I submit the request.
Our apartment is the only one don’t get junk mails like others in the building.
I highly recommend to everyone who’s having trouble getting all the junk mails!

I LOVE PAPER KARMA!! Save The Trees with PK!

It’s the cheapest, easiest way to tell mailers to leave you alone and stop wasting trees because you’re not buying what they’re selling. $60 LIFETIME subscription is the best value however you can try it out at the low monthly fee and then decide but please be patient. Give it at least four to six months because it takes 90 days for PaperKarma to do their magic and finally get the marketing mailers to get the message. Another thing that I love is that after 90 days if they’re still mailing you then you take a picture of the mailer’s mailing address (yes screenshot is all that is needed to notify paper karma . Paperkarma will say “oh you’re still still getting mail from them?” Check “yes” and PaperKarma will AGAIN remind the marketer not to contact you via postal mail. NOTE: I have not tried this yet but with all the documentation that you have from Paper Karma being on your team and asking mailers not to mail to you it could be a possibility that you can sue them because you’ve asked and they’re ignoring your request??? Hmmmm….. I might have to give that a try for any obnoxious mailer that is ignoring my plea to stop. Get PaperKarma - you will not regret it -so much value in the service!

great concept, frustrating to use

Great concept and I think we’re seeing results but the app needs major improvements, specifically:
- the scan function is absurdly to the point of comically inaccurate (maybe guessing the mailer right 5% of the time?), AND when it doesn’t get the correct mailer but at least suggests the correct mailer in a list, you CANT click on the correct suggestion 🤬 and instead you have to retype it. This is clearly a bug but i’m disappointed it hasn’t been addressed for as long as i’ve had the app
- inputting addresses is tedious - there should be some autofill capabilities, especially when you are making slight changes to the same address to ensure congruence with the mailer

Response from developer

Hi there! Can you kindly reach out to us at human@paperkarma.com so we can take a look at your submissions and see if we can identify any account or mailer specific issues? Our recognition should not be providing you such a low success rate.

Does not work. Trying since 2017.

Don’t waste your money. I still get twice my weight in junk mail every month, and mostly from places Paperkarma alleges to have “successfully unsubscribed” from. Great idea, doesn’t work. What is convenient is it provides the phone numbers you can call from each harasser to ask firmly that they delete you from their address book.

Works like a charm!

I usually don't write reviews, I just rate the apps. But here I have to give credit where credit is due! I have used PaperKarma now for almost 2 years and all junk mail has almost completely "disappeared". Fantastic App! To the developers: Keep up the good work! You are making so many people happy campers! 😀
