Reviews of Ignite HomeConnect (Shaw)

  • Lousy service.

Ever since Roger ‘s took over I have had problems. Why don’t you just leave me with Shaw and go away. Now all my clients and friends have been notified that I’m unable to carry out my orders. Sad state of affairs and service equals bad service. Go back to California and stay there

  • App cannot pause wifi for devices

This app needs to be fixed. The Blue Curve app worked better. You pause wifi access on a device, and the device can just reconnect without being unpaused. This is an issue because it is nice to be able to regulate kids’ access to the internet. Very disappointed with this app. Do better Shaw!

  • I don’t trust this app

We have been on the Shaw tech support line for weeks getting misinformation about the way the blue curve app works.

When we log into the shaw Home blue curve consol from our Apple iPhone to review the devices that are logging into the Wi-Fi there is always one unrecognized device. This unknown device has an IP address and a MAC Wi-Fi address that do not match any of the devices in our household. Coincidentally, it appears on the SHAW home device list in the app about five minutes after we link the very iPhone that is controlling the blue curve console.

Worse, if we pause the device, our phone continues to be connected to the Wi-Fi, but does not show up in the device list. If you try to “forget” the device it cannot be done because it says you need to disconnect it from the network first.

The unknown device does not show up with a IP and Mac Wi-Fi address that matches the iPhone from which we are controlling the blue curve app. Instead, the unknown device has a 12 digit ID that resembles nothing in our possession.

I don’t know if this is an error, or a security vulnerability. We tested the same process with my husband’s iPhone to similar effect.

I’ve talked to about five or six different tech-support reps and they tell us it’s our problem that it has nothing to do with their software

We have replaced our modem, changed our password countless times Shaw admin as well as the BlueCurve app with similar effect.

I’m dictating this using my shaw Wi-Fi connection knowing that this device is not reflected as logged in from shell Wi-Fi, using the same IP address or MAC Wi-Fi address that exists on my phone.

It certainly doesn’t inspire confidence. Especially when not a single tech-support rep seems to care.

I have scoured the support FAQs and other online resources and there is this behavior.

We did, however find a review on the App Store from two years ago that had a similar complaint. Whatever it is, it’s been going on for a while.

does anybody know if there’s another tool to track device activity on your Wi-Fi that would be more reliable?

    Developer Response

Thanks for taking the time to share your app experience. The unknown device you are seeing could be a private address generated by your iPhone. Do you have MAC Randomization turned on your phone? You can read more about private addresses here - https://support.apple.com/en-ca/102509. If you have further questions, please continue with our support. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Regards! /Moin
