Unexpected Cost
Update: thank you for your response and the added information. $1.99/month is much easier on our tight budget.

Thank you for offering this review. Unfortunately what you saw was the cost that was being used in the development stage of the app. The actual subscription fee is $1.99 a month, this should be reflected when you sign up for a subscription, which is used for the upkeep and future versions. Sorry for the confusion.
Change of 2 stars to 4!
Subscription interface

Hello! Thank you for feedback. If you have any issues you'd like to further discuss feel free to shoot us an email at lectiodivinajournal@gmail.com. The subscription and the method in which the subscription is activated was our way to make sure that costs for the application is low and that content is consistently updated like our physical journals we create. We also wanted to keep costs low so that it will be accessible to as many people as possible. A single subscription also gives you access to your account on the iOS application as well as the web application found at lectiodivinajournal.com as well as the Android application. This is so that you can do your lectio divinas wherever it is convenient for you and is synced across all your applications with an Internet connection. In choosing to handle transactions and subscriptions outside of the application, we made sure that security is on of the highest priorities of ours as thus we chose an online payment processor called Stripe. Stripe adheres to a high level of encryption and security and is trusted by many of the largest tech companies around the world to run transactions around the world. We hope this brings you a peace of mind and thank you for using the Lectio Divina Journal application. Blessings.
Bad UX Choices
I am more than happy to pay the monthly subscription, but I would rather do it through something like Apple Pay for 1) ease and 2) ensured security of my credit information. It is also easier for me as a user to manage in terms of my subscriptions.

Hello! Thanks for checking out the application and providing your feedback. We are striving to do our best to provide the best experience. As you pointed out, we made the decision to keep costs low so that the application and its contents are easily accessible to as many people as possible. We have spent a great amount of resources to make this application a reality. We made the decision to keep costs low but still provide a high quality experience through the application. The nominal subscription is to make sure that the application and its content is consistently updated with content to guide you through your spiritual journey. We go through and create new entries every 6 months so that is stays consistent with the physical journals we create. A single subscription also gives you access to your account on the iOS application as well as the web application found at lectiodivinajournal.com as well as the Android application. This is so that you can do your lectio divinas wherever it is convenient for you and is synced across all your applications with an Internet connection. We can assure you that security is one of the highest priorities of ours and are using Stripe to process all transactions. Stripe is an online payment processor used by many of the largest tech companies around the world to run transactions. Your information is encrypted using AES-256 on Stripe's servers and never saved on our server. We hope this gives you peace of mind and thank you for using the Lectio Divina Journal application. Blessings.
Can’t access app
So I have no idea how somebody can use this app?
Worked it out...
So, you have to go to the website and hand over your credit card details without knowing if the app is any good or the provider legitimate. It just seems to be a workaround to avoid paying the AppStore.
And after all that, I’m not feeling like exploring Lectio Divina through this app.
