  • Great Idea

I feel as tho ODFW could learn a thing or two about how to set up a DFW app from WDFG, even if it has its issues. The app has too few features to be anything but an ID card, which never gets checked anyway and all the poachers know it. One of the three times I have ever been checked was when this app first came out. I was fishing Hagg Lake and did not have reception and relied on the app for proof of license. Well, the sheriff asked to see my license, which I was happy to oblige. However the app had reverted to my cloud storage and was inaccessible, which left me without proof of license. Luckily the sheriff was smart enough to realize I was not at fault and we both agreed a paper backup was a good idea. Seems redundant in any case...
Nice try, keep at it and get the app right with more features. Also, issue waterproof paper licenses again, or even ID's that can be ran through a database... SOMETHING, but ODFW is falling short again. Just run all the rec reports through the app, doing great on the tutorial/rec report side of things, saving grace. Maybe use some of the CRBE funds ya'll seem to lose track of to invest in a better app if you won't use it as we all voted for.
  • Still in beta mode. Get a paper license

App works sometimes. There have been many issues with it this summer. Especially with e tagging or pulling up your license while offline. I don’t trust it. I was awarded a 115 dollar ticket because I was 15 miles offshore without cell service. I was unable to tag my fish. Oregon State Police know about this bug and are targeting fishers immediately after they catch a fish. I suggest getting a paper license. For one it’s easier, 2 you don’t have to get fish blood and slime all over your thousand dollar phone and three you can fish where there is no service without wondering if it’s going to work. 🤷‍♂️🎣😁. You can switch back over any time. Enjoy!
  • Couldn’t be much worse / questionably legal

I have now had two warnings from ODFW employees for not being able to present my license, despite following every direction given by ODFW for trouble shooting my barely functional app. I regularly put my phone on airplane mode and leave the app open (as tech support said I had to do if offline) and still have the app fail to open when offline. Tech support is a joke and they refuse to acknowledge any issues, nor will they let me return to paper tagging. 90% of my angling is out of cell service, they won’t except screen shots, so I basically have to fish knowing that there’s always a chance I get a huge ticket. Great job folks.
