  • Great game ruined by botting

Been playing for years and there’s no game like it on mobile - unfortunately the competitive aspect of it has been utterly ruined by developers protecting Chinese botting/RMT rings and favouring Chinese players by subsidising their losses to ensure an unlevel playing field.

F2P is theoretically possible but due to rampant inflation caused by botting isk it’s a serious grind and won’t make you competitive. Developer has repeatedly failed to deal with the problem of botting and as such the in-game economy is ceasing to function, made worse by a rapidly declining player count.

Shame to see such a promising game ruined by flagrant nationalism, hope NetEase go bust and are forced to sell the IP to a company who recognise the importance of ensuring a competitive environment.

  • Don’t spend money.

Let me start by saying this game is an incredibly fun game especially considering you can play it on your phone. I played on launch and put in countless hours and spent a fair bit of money on “top ups”, what NetEase calls micro transactions. I had my account bound to my Twitter account which was one of the many convenient options to make an account. I played diligently for a few years before my alliance crumbled and I decided to take a break from the game. When I recently came back to the game, I found out that NetEase had decided to unbind everyone’s account who had used Twitter to make said account. To put it clearly, your account is still there in the game, with all your stuff including what you got from micro transactions (spending real money) but you can’t log into the account anymore. The company in charge of the game had given notice this would happen via Discord, but nobody who wasn’t looking at the Discord would have any idea that it was happening. I contacted player support to recover my account and despite providing MY ACCOUNT DETAILS and actual APPLE STORE RECEIPT screenshots proving that I paid for the top ups on the account I was trying to recover, they denied the request. Do not spend money in this game.

(If NetEase decides to reimburse me for the money I spent on my lost account to my new account, I will consider the situation as resolved in good faith and modify my review to reflect that.)

  • Crashes at startup on WiFi, cannot play on WiFi

The game is 5 stars when it works, but currently loads to the Netease logo, waits for around 5 seconds, then “crashes”, closing the app entirely. Literally cannot play the game on WiFi. Strangely, when I am on cellular, not connected to any wifi, the game works fine. As I play mostly at home when connected to WiFi this is really annoying, and I cant play on iPad at all. Please fix asap as I love this game, thanks. The problem is the same on all my devices, running iOS 16 and iOS 17. I have also tried other peoples wifi, and the problem is the same. Update: I also tested to see if I start the game on cellular and then switch back to WiFi if it continues gameplay but that does not work, the game loses connection shortly after switching back to WiFi. I play a lot of other online games and also tested other NetEase games without this problem. It’s only Eve Echoes that does this.

  • Could be much better

It’s s a shame the company spends more money on introducing more ships. Then game play. Missiles and lasers shoot into space not at the target. Some Ships look unfocused because graphics are so bad. No content for lower level players. Content that is there is boring. At the moment i would not recommend. When developers are asked to introduce something that will benefit the game. Oh that’s cost too much or take too much time. The death of the game.

  • Beautiful but no longer a sandbox game, just P2W

Echoes is based on Eve Online which is an incredibly immersive and complex game. Unfortunately Eve Echoes, whilst having an enormous amount of potential, has spiralled down since launch into a pay to win game.

The more money you spend playing the game the less likely, if you lose your ship to another player, you are to suffer any consequences. In fact, despite making the rules very clear that if you lose a ship and there is no game glitch then it really is gone, if you spend enough money you can simply complain to the developers and smile as your ship is magically returned to you.

Given that this is a PVP game this rather defeats the object of playing it.

  • Purely a Money Grab

The developers have taken an awesome game in Eve Online and have turned it into a mobile game that at the beginning was interesting and fun, however 2yrs on it has become how much money can we squeeze out of you, if I knew then how the developers were going to ignore their player base apart from those willing to spend more and more and more I wouldn’t have wasted my time energy and money on it.

  • Pay2win

Avoid this crappy game at all costs and play the original PC version if you really want to try it. - 3 tiers of omega ($15 month); - have to refill/purchase omega every month or you won’t be able to late claim omega daily rewards (which the omega players supposed to get but do not, I.e. double-dipping); - $40 to get 3 learning speed chips; - constant meta changes, so you need to buy plex for $$ to reset and reapply skill points for appropriate skills; - new concord pass - 80 levels every 6 weeks, all good advanced rewards are hidden behind $10 paywall per 6 weeks (or $20 if you were unable to get 1150pts/week); - broken industry because of insurance (infinite reimbursement of ships and fit for $$/plex instead of rebuying from market); - all ships (except bananas) are from EO with lazy copy-pasted description; - unbalanced pvp meta with only few viable setups which everyone uses; -very limited pve content with nothing worth of doing in highsec; - 1-click combat scan, so every player is forced in nullsec; - loads and loads of mining bots and anomaly bots in nullsec; - boring overall for much higher $$ than real EVE Online… why even bother? Stay away from this gacha game. If you want to play EVE, get real PC version. New events are whale hunting events with nothing but new cores without any playable content.

  • Don’t play

The devs probably won’t ever fix this but I have to say it. If you started even a month after the game came out, you have things several times harder than other players. If you start now (2022) you pretty much have to spend money to survive. This is because every system under 0.5 security is now extremely dangerous due to scanners who will find your mission locations or miner killers who will cloak into a belt and blow you up. Unlike other games, which have different servers so new players aren’t immediately pitted against players who have 1000+ hours in their account (basically infinite resources and hundreds of ships), eve simply puts noobs with the free starter ship valued at 100 isk against players who fly billion-isk motherships and battleships. You should also be prepared to lose any money you put into it. I was playing this in 2021, and having a great time as well, (I started the day it came out) when one day I entered the game and my account simply vanished. I tried contacting support and never got a reply. My account is probably sitting in their lists of accounts, never to be seen again.

  • Really nice FPS

I started playing this as soon as I found it, I tried playing EVE on my MacBook (the only computer I have) but the FOS was near zero so I’m glad there’s a mobile version.
  • P2W no doubt but—

There are ways around paying money but they make it so easy for you to agree to a few bucks here there. I’m an average adult male with an average paying job and I can make little purchases here n there if I wanted to. Admittedly I have probably given this game more money than I have any others game an so I suppose that’s an honest review. No gambling tho. There is no “better luck next time” gambling fever in this game at all so I do applaud that.

There is just one thing… the little profile pictures you have to choose from to I guess “immerse yourself into the game” are absolutely absurd. 90% of the images of these characters are awful. I’m in a faction that literally has one character profile that’s “acceptable” to my standers and you CANNOT change your faction. So I’m stuck looking like some douche chad looking like he’s from the matrix. I hate looking at him and there’s nothing I can do about that at all.. sad..

Everything else in the game is good tho. I like it
