  • Photo editing troubleshoot

I noticed when you take a picture directly from the imaging gun and want to edit the photo and or add notes, it does not go to the photo you last took, the Image that appears is what you pointed to after taking the photo. ( so if I take a picture of a ventilation area and point away, to go search the image and edit the photo , the image that appears after selecting the photo I took, is what I pointed to after I took the picture.) So the only way I have seem to notice that it functions properly is taking the picture through the phone app in “live view”. Only than after taking the picture from the phone in” live view” can I select that same photo I took and edit

  • Hikmicro pocket 2 w/new firmware

Writing on Aug/08/23 after upgrade of the app and device firmware (V5.5.49 Build 230628) My device is been working reliably and connecting with out a problem with my iPhone, either with the WiFi or hotspot.
I’m able to edit my thermal captures with the Hikmicro viewer app and now I can reliably get my last pictures to show in the app unlike before, for some reason didn’t show the most recent ones with the last version.
The only thing is that you need to save to files on your iPhone cuz I won’t let you save it to the camera roll, you need to do that after edit and saving in the file app of the iPhone, not a big deal but just want to let you know.
I adquiere this device at the beginning of this year (2023) and is been working every time.
Honestly I do t have much to complain about it.

  • Access files on device

To access files on device go to settings/general and turn on save to device. This should probably be set to on by default but it’s not.
  • Broken

Viewer app won’t load at all. Crashes instantly. :/
  • App can use some improvement for sure

Well I give 5 starts cuz the app is usable and I want to balance the rating, the only problem with the app is that you can not access the files to save it in your phone!
But is a work around within the same app, in the tab where you can see in real time the image that the device is capturing.
Just go in your thermal device (in my case pocket 2) go to captured files and play it there while simultaneously tap in your phone in the app the capture “button” picture or video. And it will save it there (app) and just transfer to your phone from there.
Sorry I hope my explanation make sense :)

  • Can’t get files off device?

Arguably the most important feature of the app is missing. Avoid this product until the app works better.

    Developer Response

HIKMICRO Thermal Camera can be accessed and controlled through HIKMICRO Viewer software, which provides users with the ability to view and save thermal images and videos. For detailed instructions on how to operate the software, please refer to the official HIKMICRO Viewer user manual ( https://www.hikmicrotech.com/en_us/support/download-center/user-manual/ >> Viewer). Our customer support team is also available to assist you with any questions or concerns.
  • Can’t see photos

Just bought a Thermal camera. It takes photos but can use the app to download those photos.

Why bother having a app that doesn’t work.
  • Cool app, can’t transfer files currently

Folders show up empty on app, no photos or videos available to download from the Pocket 2. All the other features work nicely.
  • Can no longer browse image on device

When connecting, the app can see the folders on the device, but they appear empty. I suspect it has something to do with permission changes in recent iOS versions. Please fix, otherwise app is pretty useless
  • Good - if you stick to landscape orientation

Once you get the Hikmicro Pocket2 camera to connect (I’m using its hotspot) there’s a good range of options for editing images. However, it rotates images from portrait to landscape during & after editing, despite the fact that, following the latest firmware update, the camera offers the choice of either orientation. Until this mismatch between camera and app is addressed I will turn off auto-rotate and stick to landscape mode.
