A lot of Work

Keva’s ideology is sound and I love the concept, but the execution is kind of obsolete at best. The problem is whoever created this idea is absolutely scamming people lending money.

First off, most of these small loans will not be paid off for 2-3 years, which makes truly no sense along with the risk of losing your money altogether along with not disclosing the interest rate for your loans along with the additional charge called “donation to Keva” when you try to give a loan to someone. If you lend someone 100$, you “donate” 15 to Keva which makes no sense because isn’t the whole point of these loans is that we are pretty much donating money to people in need. You may make a few dollars after a few years but in reality you won’t be making much money unless you’re donating larger amounts of money.

You got a great idea, a great concept, just execute it better! The apps design is simple and effective, but you must be more thorough to customers.

Thanks!

Hi! Please note a few points: 1. Donations to Kiva have always been and will continue to be, optional. Simply click the 'edit donation' or pencil icon option during checkout. 2. Loan repayment periods among the thousands of loans on the website can vary greatly, ranging from a few months to 36 months. Each loan has a different repayment schedule based on a number of factors. This information is displayed on each loan page. 3. Kiva is not a platform on which lenders accrue interest or profit. It is a tool to help underserved communities around the world who lack access to traditional financial capital/resources. For risks associated with lending on Kiva, please visit: https://www.kiva.org/about/due-diligence/risk

Super helpful to small businesses

I’ve helped and referred more than 10 businesses who were funded by Kiva. I plan on encouraging more to use the platform for funding and build a network of lenders myself.

Feel Good Site

Kiva is so important. It is an easy way to help people help themselves around the world. I especially like helping single mothers since I was one with three small girls many years ago. I remember how hard it was to make ends meet. I was able to start a small sewing business and I try to help other moms get ahead while being there for their kids.

Amazing Feeling

I love being able to help people and this app gives me access to people in need all over the world and tells me a little about them to help me choose; I can’t give to everyone who needs it so I try to find ways to help the most. I love that this makes it possible.

Thank you for your kind review, Jennifer!

Kiva a gift from God to the world’s poor?

I am a Christian priest whose hopeful eyes scans this world of tragedy and human misery for lights that might offer a path through the darkness. In my personal prayerful estimation of what is of God, let it said that Kiva does bring a light of hope to some of poorest of the poor on this sacred earth. Please help the poor help themselves for this is what Kiva does. It gives financial credit to those for whom it is deserved. This can be and I sense deserves to be called a gift in service to God’s calling for economic justice to come for all. Kiva to me marks a sign of this coming blessing where the barriers shall at last be removed where every man, woman and onamuh on this earth will know freedom of opportunity through access to fair financial services. Thank-you to the Kiva team for doing this noble deed. Thank-you.

Making a real difference with a few dollars

Micro lending is a way to help individuals become financially self sufficient. A few dollars can make a real difference.

I think the fee Kiva charges is a bit high in comparison to the amount of the loan but this type of lending is very effective so I pay it.

I love Kiva! But not this app.

It’s rare that I use the website of a company *instead* of the app. But this is one of those times. The website has amazing search functions that have improved so much over the years, but the app basically has no search or filter features. So it’s back to the site I go. It’s a bit of a disappointment. That being said, Kiva is one of my favorite organizations - I’ve been donating through Kiva for over 11 years and it just brings me so much joy!

Needs link to team activity

I would like to see a link to my team.

Also the ability to see a loans ending soon sort for loans already identified for support by others in my team so I can help them first.

Even on the website which is much better, I can only find open loans by team. Would like to be able to get the additional sort by those ending soon.

Easy to help others

Story let's us know who and why we would want to provide the loan. And also makes recommendations for those who are unsure which to pick.

The process to sign up and pay was frictionless.
