Description of Pebble Climbing

Gamify your climbing with Pebble! Pebble helps you improve your climbing by giving you a grade pyramid to complete each week. Finish the pyramid and move up a level. If you don't, you'll get 2 more tries before you drop back down a level. Each level is tailored to your abilities and helps direct you to climbs that are appropriate for you. In addition to the gamification, Pebble offers these other features: • Follow your friends in the FEED to see their sends and media or your gym to see when a new area has been reset or if any events are happening soon. • Find climbs for your next trip in the OUTDOOR GUIDEBOOK or give back by adding climbs that you've sent to the guidebook through the app in a wiki-style. • Track your nightly sessions at the local CLIMBING GYM if they've joined Pebble or even if they haven't. • Find climbing-specific WORKOUTS & CIRCUITS that other users have created to do specifically at your gym, your local crag, or at home. • Get RECOMMENDATIONS based on your current climbing ability and what climbs you need to send to reach the next grade. • ANALYZE your climbing and training using our charts to see your progress and plan your next sessions. • SCHEDULE workouts and sessions and track your successful completion automatically.

  • Garbage

    Useless and boring

    Developer Response

Thanks for the feedback. Have you tried filling out a pyramid? We’ll also be adding more games you can play while you’re climbing in the near future. Hopefully that will decrease the useless and boring…ness of it
  • Interesting concept - confusing implementation

Its interesting to have an app to track attempts and sends during a workout. However, a lot of the actions I want to do are difficult or missing from this app.

It should be easier to use the session to add climbs. Currently a session is useless to me. I have to navigate to the “Gyms” tab, pick the gym I’m at, find the section, find the climb, and indicate if I sent it or “fell”. For sessions to be useful, I’d love if you could pin the gym you are at and if you could save some routes as your active projects. I want to open the app and click once or twice to indicate if I sent or not. The current flow discourages me from recording climbs. The “recommended problems” that you already have is a much better UI, but I did not find it initially. There’s also when you scroll down on an individual gym and click “All Boulders”. This UI is also decent. Why are there 3 different ways to filter/mark sends? And the 2 good ones are hard to find!

The app freezes if I click Profile > Wristband but try to back out.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m glad you found the way to get to your gym by following the gym and then navigating to it through your dashboard from the recommended climbing section. You can click on the gym card there and get directly to the areas of the gym. Keeping the clicks down is always a priority. That’s why we’ve added a few ways to get to places. We’re currently working on a wristband and scanner solution that would further simplify things and keep the interaction in the app to a minimum. Look for it in your gym soon.
  • Hard to find routes

No left to right option? I like being able to sort by age, filter out setters etc but every guidebook list left to right (or reverse).

    Developer Response

Thanks for the feedback. We had a left to right option for a while but it required more work from the setters and in general, wasn’t used by gyms. We may bring it back and try to encourage them to use it.
