WHAT IS IT? ParkCBRegionis the only app to provide information on ‘real-time’ parking availability in the Canberra region and the ability to pay for parking with a link to ParkMobile. As part of the ACT Government’s Smart Parking systems, parking space sensors have been activated in 460 on-street and off-street parking bays in the Manuka district to ease traffic congestion and help guide drivers to available car parking bays. These include paid-for, free, covered, open, and disability parking spots. Five LED street signs also direct drivers to location-specific parking bays. Other areas across the wider Canberra region are also introducing this technology will automatically become usable from this app. Using a simple red, amber, and green system, the ParkCBRegion app provides real-time information (updated multiple times each minute) on where drivers are more likely to find an available car parking space. It can even interact with most satellite-navigation apps, directing motorists to their chosen parking location. HOW DOES IT WORK? To use ParkCBRegion, drivers need a smartphone with a data connection (WiFi or a 3G/4G). Users can simply tap a map marker on the screen, to view information such as the number of available spaces, hours of operation, hourly tariffs, and whether a space is designated for disabled drivers. Car parking bays can be located by either general search terms (Manuka) or a specific address, such as Bougainville Street. Search results will also provide alternative parking spaces near the preferred destination, along with specific directions. Payment can be made through the app with a link to ParkMobile. WHERE WILL IT OPERATE NOW? The following on-street bays are covered by the ParkCBRegionapp: Furneaux (between Canberra Avenue and Murray Crescent) Bougainville (between Furneaux and Flinders Way) Flinders Way (between Murray Crescent and Canberra Ave) Franklin (between Captain Cook Crescent and Ducane Street) Captain Cook Crescent (both sides, between Canberra Avenue
and Murray Crescent / Stuart Street). Over 190 off-street bays are located at: Furneaux Street carpark at the corner of Furneaux and Bougainville Streets. WHERE CAN I FIND OUT MORE? For more information please visit: www.act.gov.au/smartparking
