Continuing in the spirit of improving your experience with the game, for those of you that have played a few games and are still wondering what on earth, that tutorial we added in v1.3 will now show up on your next AI game. In addition to that, the AI is now a little smarter in that it better understands the need to deal with the last couple of letters in a different manner. For sure, there are more ways the AI can grow, and I'll work on adding those over time. But remember, you don't want it to be too smart now do you? You will also get a on-screen prompt now when you try to discard a letter, or request a new one when it's not possible. The AI should no longer get stuck at odd times ("should" being the operative word here). Playing another person via Game Center should now work. Gosh there were some serious bug fixes and performance issues in that are of the game. I hope you can enjoy a game this way now. I hope this update serves to help those of you wanting to enjoy the game but getting a little confused by some of its eccentricities.

* This update brings support for the latest device sizes (iPhone and iPad). * Support for the latest version of Game Center has been added. This should mean your game history is preserved for players with iOS 13 or later. If you're still on an older device, then I can't guarantee that Game Center support will still work. The good news in this is that those of you on iOS 13 or later should again be able to play against other people, and not just the AI. * When playing against another player via Game Center, the unused letter count is now correctly updated. * It also brings what I hope, is a decent little tutorial on how to play, and just what are those numbers and thingos at the top of the screen. To those people that have reached out via App Review, or email, asking for these improvements, thank you. I do listen, but sometimes I'm a little slow.

Thanks to a DISTRAUGHT player wanting to play Wordy Tile and having a little trouble with the DICTIONARY DISAGREEING with the LEGITIMACY of some words, we've been able to improve the game such that CONSIDERABLY more words are available for the player (and the AI, we've got to be fair now don't we?) to use. And oh hey, while we were looking at it, we improved the performance of the AI player so that it doesn't try turn your iPhone or iPad into a stovetop. We've also tried to make the AI a little less obsessive about the way it searches for it's next word.

Description of Wordy Tile

Wordy Tile is a game where you race against your opponent to build a grid of words from a stack of tiles. Every game starts with a stack of tiles from which you and your opponent are given a starting set. As you play you can request more tiles from the stack, so long as more remain. When you do get one though, remember that your opponent gets one too. So it’s a race! Don’t get caught spending too much time thinking about your tiles; your opponent may get more of them, and sometimes more tiles means you have more choices. Fewer tiles doesn’t always mean it’s easier to finish first! Stuck? You can also discard a tile, but be warned, that results in you being given three in return! Wordy Tile has a huge database of two to nine letter words. The AI has been carefully built to be smart, but not too smart, and not too quick. There are three levels of play. Each level has a different stack size, so the game gets more complex with the bigger stack, but it also gets longer. Offline? No problems, just play the AI! Online? Great, be sure you’re logged into Game Center and iCloud and you can play anyone else that has Wordy Tile. Play with friends and family! Wordy Tile is a fast paced game; it’s not a turn based game so it’s a new take on word games that is a lot of fun

Reviews of Wordy Tile

  • Terrible word game!

Once you start to play you can’t pause or go back to review the rules. In fact there is no way to review the rules at all once you play your first game. The tiles don’t respond well so moving them is difficult especially when they are dropped by the sides of the game board. Touching the side of my I Pad results in a tab coming onto the game that covers the letters. Often when there are no vowels and you tap to get a new letter nothing happens. I play banana grams and it is far friendlier a game. What a disappointment! I was looking forward to playing this game.

    Developer Response

I’m sorry you’ve had that experience and am grateful for the feedback. There are a great many people that haven’t had these troubles. Certainly the rules tend to only be shown when you are clearly starting out. Sadly iPadOS’s new split screen feature may well interfere and I’ll look into addressing that in an update. Again thanks for the feedback; I’m sure that it’s not quite as bad as you’ve made out but I’ll look into what you’ve said nevertheless. It’s worth being aware that if you don’t have a vowel or letter you might want, tapping on the button to request more tiles starts a timer that prevents you from making a request again immediately. That’s quite deliberate and it is explained. Reading tips and rules is really important with any game. And just because you want a vowel doesn’t mean you will get one. The stack of tiles is fixed so you can only receive tiles that are still there (of course).
  • Has potential,but glitchy

Ended up deleting app. It freezes too frequently, usually when trying to add another letter.

    Developer Response

Thanks for your review and feedback. That version of Wordy Tile certainly shouldn’t be behaving like that and I’m sorry you had that experience.
  • Fun but glitchy

It’s exactly like the fruit game but without a way to play friends, only an untalented AI. It also freezes and has random glitches in the game that make it extremely frustrating.
