Good for tracking fasting. Not reliable for tracking food

I tried several in parallel and this one is best for tracking fasting programmes. Easy to use, good interface, they invested in advice and user fasting process workflow. Unfortunately that’s not the story with the food tracking side of the app. Just not there yet. It is very inaccurate at times, for example 160 grams of Greek yogurt gave 80 grams of protein when it’s normally 7 maximum 10. Then there is the meal plan. A great idea and I like some of the recipes but if you click to add a meal your eaten to the log - it adds it for the number of people the recipe is written for. If it’s 6 people, you get the full calories and nutrients for all 6. So again, you need to adjust. There is a lot of manual work with that and most people will give up. Better stick to MyFitnessPal. But then you pay for two apps when MFP also has a fasting functionality (though inferior). So not sure if I stick with this app because the for me that work logging and correcting food is more complicated than amusing a fasting timer even if I lose a bit of functionality. Shame because I do love the app but it’s not practical. Maybe a year from now after fixes, releases, and improved food database.

Unbelievable App

This app is the first of its kind that I have ever tried. I was interested in the picture taking for calories. Which is good to excellent. Especially if you scan each item individually. The information got me seriously back into my fasting pgm, and never in my life have I drank 120 oz of water a day. It does not reconize plant based products unless you scan the barcode which is not difficult. You can create your own library of foods so gets easyier as time tools on. It is a great application and I would recommend it to anyone, is it a must have not really but a person is likely to quickly quit counting calories and that’s THE ONLY WAY TO LOSE FAT IS BY CALORIE DEFICIT. It helps with eating the correct foods also. Remember it is not about doing hours of cardio the reason your not doing great on weight loss it because of what your putting in your trap. So far the 16-8 fasting program is working for me some days 17 - 7. Very religious about it now. So far I have lost 7 lbs in 5 days. I can tell the difference. Great app and not expensive but there is a cost. Enjoy

Can’t turn off timer

I subscribed to the app, but it put a count down timer at the top of my screen that remains there even if the app is closed. I turned off notifications, but this timer is still there. I don’t want it there at all and there seems to be no way to remove it. Turning off notifications removes the timer, but a black bar remains. It sits between the time and the battery/network symbol at the top of the screen. If you tap it it opens the app. I don’t want to have my phone appearance altered against my will - plus my battery drained quickly after installation too. I had to delete the app to get rid of this timer. I paid for this subscription, and I’m regretting it big time. I won’t be renewing.

Works

I’ve tried a few apps in my quest to discipline my disordered eating and keep coming back to Fastic. Look, I’m not a fan of the ads (but understand the need), but it’s the only app that keeps me honestly eating in my allotted window. I think the combination of gamifying IF with Frosties and all that, as well as the Lock Screen timer is what keeps me coming back. If you can tolerate the ads, the free version is probably enough for you.

New Client

I have tried everything out there to lose weight. I refuse to medicate myself into “health.” This app has been the easiest and most user friendly guide I have ever used. To be able to just take a picture of my food and have it logged has been a game changer for me. I am in my first week. As a huge fan of nighttime snacking, this has really helped me understand how bad it is for my health (which I was well aware of, but just couldn’t ((didn’t)) stop). FASTIC has helped guide me. Granted, I’m only in my first week, but so far, so good. Also, I stand by the analogy that 30 days makes a habit. The first day I weighed in at 177. One week later, through increasing my water intake, monitoring my food intake (with very little change to my normal daily food choices), and adhering to a daily 14 hour fast, I am down to 173 pounds. That’s 4 pounds in 6 days. Again, user friendly, informative, flexible, multiple levels and degrees of fasting. I don’t have an Apple Watch or Fitbit, so my only problem is remembering to carry my phone everywhere I go in order to get a proper daily step count. I am loving this app and I am so glad I found it. 13-18 pounds to my goal weight. I feel much more capable of success with this app.

Thankful, but…

I am grateful for the information that this app provides. I am also grateful for the accountability that having it in front of me and reminding me provides throughout the day. It is just what I needed to take control over my habits. However, with that said, I’m very disappointed that it seems to be all AI driven (a good use of it, for sure) and that that does not facilitate customer service or help. I have emailed through the AI chat suggested email address multiple times with no response. When I went to the app website I found a different address and emailed that one as well, again with no response. The only other contact possibility is to mail a paper letter to Berlin and hope for a response. I wouldn’t be frustrated at all if I just had the free app, but I took the extra step of purchasing the ‘Plus’ membership so that I could truly benefit from the daily ‘habit’ tracking features. They are not working in my app and I have no way of gent help. Not going to cancel, because even as it is I am making better choices daily than I had been on my own, but I sure would like to be able to use the stated functionality. Disappointed!

Simple to use

The free version of the app is perfect and suits me best; however, now that I’m a regular user, it keeps prompting me to sign up for the paid version, which is becoming annoying and pushing me towards an alternative app.
I wish the annoying prompt would cease.

Paid version: 💯, but the free version 🤮

Only three stars because despite having used and loved the paid version for years(!) I recently didn’t renew my subscription and had the app still on my phone. I wasn’t even using it and yet all of a sudden out of nowhere the app sets a fasting timer goal and adds it to my calendar. Not only is this a weird invasion of my privacy (even the paid version didn’t do this which would have been efficient), but when I decided to give it a go, I’m spammed on every other page with really dodgy ads.
But I can’t ignore it either because no matter how often I delete the recurring reminders it’s added to my calendar, or prevent it accessing my calendar in my phone’s permissions, somehow nothing gives and it’s in my calendar everyday, spamming me with reminders I don’t want for an fast I’m not doing and even now that I’ve deleted the app it STILL KEEPS THE REMINDERS IN MY CALENDAR, so I now I literally having reminders for an app I don’t even have.
Since I’ve not used the paid version for over a year, I can’t even vouch for that anymore but once upon a time, it was good.

Now -— the whole thing is a headache!

Started great ended unusable

I had been using Fastic for the past 2 years on a daily basis, really enjoying the gameified fasting tracking it offered: simple and straightforward. Unfortunately, today I deleted the app and have no intention of downloading again any time soon.

Fastic’s decision to implement the most aggressive ad strategy has ruined the app. Unsolicited advertisements pop up every time I open the app, blaring a halfwit marketing slogan from my speakers without permission, and in some instances not allowing me to skip the ad. What’s worse, Fastic’s ads feature various products and marketplaces with a reputation for selling counterfeit and unsafe consumer goods, which is unacceptable and reputation tarnishing.

I attempted to inform customer service of the issues this ad policy is causing but to no avail, receiving an automatic reply with a bunch of hoops I had to jump through to offer my feedback. So, here is feedback offered in a straight and straightforward way. A very sad end to Fastic on my phone.
