Version History of HouseCurve

5.2.1

November 12, 2024

* Fixed issue in iOS 18.x where HouseCurve is unable to measure after taking over an AirPlay connection.

5.2.0

October 27, 2024

* Equalize Tool can now use shelf filters when generating PEQ based corrections. In some cases this can produce better corrections with fewer filters. * Equalize Tool displays the maximum boost applied by the correction. This can be used on systems that require headroom adjustment after applying EQ (ex: Roon) * Measurement sweep fades in more gently to be kind to audio systems without infrasonic filters. * Fixed an issue where measurement export could occasionally crash the app.

Description of HouseCurve

HouseCurve is a multi-tool for audio systems. Use it for room correction, adjusting equalizers, setting subwoofer phase, choosing crossovers and more. Features: * Sine sweep measurements * Display magnitude, phase and group delay * Compare measurements to target curve * Create and edit target curves * Generate room correction filters (PEQ or FIR) * Filters can be used with Roon, Volumio, miniDSP, EqualizerAPO, CamillaDSP and more * Average and history display modes * Measurement save and undo * Use with built-in or external microphones * Connect with AirPlay, Bluetooth, headphone jack (analog) or use externally played sweeps HouseCurve measures in-room frequency response by listening to your audio system play a sine sweep. Measurements are displayed on top of a target curve, making it easy to see where adjustment is needed. Multiple measurements can be averaged to fully capture how the system sounds in the listening area. With small changes and repeat measurements, you can manually tune your system to the target curve. If your audio system has a parametric equalizer or convolution engine, HouseCurve can automatically generate filter settings to match the target curve. HouseCurve can help with home and car audio system tuning, from system equalization and room correction to subwoofer time alignment and speaker placement. Visit housecurve.com for more information on how HouseCurve works and how to use it. HouseCurve will produce acceptable results with the built in iPhone/iPad microphone. Using calibrated external microphones will provide higher accuracy. The free version of HouseCurve can measure your audio system and display a magnitude plot (aka "frequency response"). Additional features, such as room correction filter generation, advanced measurement tools and target curve editing can be obtained via in-app purchases.

Reviews of HouseCurve

Simple, effective and cheap

I moved house and the only room I could use for music listening is very lively, wooden floor, not a lot of soft furnishings - everything sounded pretty bad
I used HouseCurve to get an idea of what I was dealing with and decided to upgrade for £15 to get EQ suggestions
Implementing these suggestions via Roon made a huge difference and to be honest it has been much more effective than I would have thought
I appreciate that hardcore hi-fi afficianados will never approve of a lot of DSP processing but all I can say is - it really worked well for me
My wife, who is not a hi-fi buff, instantly noticed something was different and better too

Unreliable

One out of every two to three sweeps actually works. Good app when it functions properly but very unreliable.
