Atrocious.
This is probably the worst app I have ever used and sadly the product it’s associated with is nice (so far) but I’m considering taking it back as I’m not sure I can deal with endless technical issues.
The product is the aquarium light MJ-L165. If you have 5g you are forced to log in in AP mode. You lose your wifi connection on your phone and even then, after connecting, the app is very very basic. Clumsy. Looks and Feels like something from the 90s bad.pauly3579

This app is by far one of the worst I’ve used ever, brand new equipment and nothing connects, I would take this stuff for free. I’ll be returning everything and this app is the first thing to goMb nunya
Horrible App
The app just won’t connect or work either directly or by router. I have multiple Orphek lights on a bigger tank & I have zero issues with that App, so it’s not me or my network.Redolentchewtoy

The app is useless. Trying to program a schedule on my gyres and I can’t get it connect and when it does the gyres start going haywire and just do their own thing. I have to set it back on the controller. Get with it maxspect and fix your app. It’s absolute garbage for what we are paying for these pumps and not able to use app control. You can’t even set a schedule on the controller either. FIX IT!!Grumpybuyer
UI on iPhone needs serious user testing
The app itself is very unstable and the user flow is not intuitive. The video tutorials online do not correspond to current versions, making it nearly impossible to interact successfully. Profiles have no “apply” button as shown in all tutorials. Without saved profiles, this cloud version is quite useless. Save your money and avoid the Maxspect Gyre CE (Cloud Edition) and controller. It’s useless & a waste of money.StephenS
Clunky & Unstable
Although I love the hardware, the app is a bit counterintuitive and requires a ton more user testing. It freezes frequently and visualizing any schedules are challenging on a mobile device. The app disconnects from WiFi as does the controller making the pump impossible to control with a hard reset each time WiFi is disconnected or unit is turned off. This makes it impossible to coordinate with an Apex controller feed cycles. Wish there were support for more integration to Apex controller.Horrible experience with App
The cloud gyre pumps are really nice and work as intended.
The ability to direct flow is super handy
The controller is decent and not too bad to program manually.

Programming in the app is fairly straight forward except the mode keeps switching to I guess the default Water Movement Mode
Come on Maxscect
This bundle isn’t exactly inexpensive
For a flagship piece of equipment the constant problems are an embarrassment
Do you have quality control or Beta testers?
Do you listen to feedback?
Do some work on the software and connectivity

Can’t adjust multiple lights as a group anymore
The old app worked fine for me and now we get this update that removes the group feature so lights need to be adjusted individually. I can’t even imagine what the thinking behind this was.Shawn c
