Leave a Review Campsite Notifier
Does this app even work anymore?
Just paid for it last week, set up alerts, it and it says it sent me notifications over the last week but it did not. Yes, my iPhone notification settings are all on for the app. Going to try to contact them bc not sure this is even an active service right now. All campgrounds have the exact same rating too.Show lessDeveloper Response
Please contact me at info@redsandresearch.com. Not sure why you didn't receive alerts. It alerts through notifications and through email. Make sure your notifications are turned on for this app. Contact us and let me know if you have not had success. We have never seen this issue before. If it isn't working for you we will offer a full refund.Good, but utility issues
This app is a good start. However, there are some issues about its practical use. It is a notifier. That is, it will tell you if a campsite opens up or is open. That is good. But when is this kind of app most needed?
It is limited to federal campsites, so that is a practical limitation - notably excluding state-run campgrounds. And it looks within a radius set at 50 miles. For last minute campsite searches that may be too limited. Imagine yourself traveling and you want to find a last-minute campsite. You don't know exactly where you will end up. So, maybe you are willing to look within a range of 100 miles, or maybe even 150. Those who are planning camps with lots of lead time will probably use different apps. So, with this "notifier" it would probably be good to have a search focus on "where can we stay tonight" - that is, what are our options now. At least this is my view.Show lessDeveloper Response
It is limited to Federal sites due to the API for federal being different than states. Many states don't even have a way to do this. Good points on all accounts. Most cancellations happen within the last week but some are obviously further out. We tried to make it so you could get a campsite last minute. We will keep your ideas in mind for future updates.Requires you to download an app and create an account to find out they don’t support your campground
Might be a good app for campgrounds it supports, but you can’t find out what campgrounds those are before downloading the app, and creating an account.
Supports fewer campgrounds than other competing services.Developer Response
It states this if for Federal (National Parks, National Forest, BLM, etc). The API for state and local campsites are either non-existent or don't work well. RE other services that offer this; there are a number out there that offer a paid service for non-guaranteed sites. They use web scrappers, overseas workers, and other methods to do so. We don't offer this. Ours is for Federal only and we are the only ones that will actually get you a site. Non-pay sites get too many hits and the Feds govern down the traffic. We always outperform these sites.
