Great resource

Especially for older/more obscure but very interesting cookbooks! It’s a great general reference library with a large selection of international cookbooks. Recipe selection from the TOC could be a little bit better, but overall the format is really user-friendly and attractive. For me worth it as a resource and research option, especially when libraries and bookstores are closed.

Enjoy this app

I was a little skeptical at first that this app would be more useful than Kindle unlimited, etc, but actually I really enjoy it and use it often. It has a good combination of a searchable database with the ability to read a cookbook straight through, and the recipes that it suggests once you’ve clicked on one are actually relevant. The cookbooks are usually a bit older (like maybe five to ten years old), but they’re good ones, and since I’m old I remember when many of them came out, or I owned them. I have especially been enjoying the Mission Chinese cookbook, the Hakka cookbook, and Michael Ruhlman’s From Scratch. There is a good selection of different cuisines represented as well, which is important to me.

Glad that you’ve been enjoying our titles focused on Chinese cuisine. We’ve added many more in the last few months, including from Singaporean publisher Marshall Cavendish. Well worth digging into those titles.

Brilliant idea, beautifully done

I own shelves of cookbooks and typically turn to them either for ideas or perhaps more often for the one recipe that really works for me in that genre. Of course these days there are lots of wonderful recipes you can find by simply Googling, but it’s hard to judge them and the majority are anonymous. The great strength of ckbk is that all the recipes come from authored cookbooks, so you can avoid pet hates and gravitate towards those you trust. It’s by no means complete yet, but gets better all the time. Not a substitute for all those books, but a great way to search quickly if you happen to have a peculiar set of ingredients and run out of ideas. Also to compare different approaches. And it’s extremely well done - elegant and intuitive. I find myself gravitating towards it more and more often. Highly recommended!

I like the searches across all the cookbooks.
I really like seeing a recipe without dozens of unrelated click-bait adds cluttering up the page.
I like having a huge self of cookbooks that doesn’t take up any space.

Favourite app ever

I have never loved an app as much as I love this one. As someone who reads cookbooks for fun, to have the variety of these books available in their entirety is amazing! What’s great is that you have the convenience of searching for an ingredient or what you feel like cooking, as in any search engine or food site - but what comes up here in the results is diverse and interesting and so refreshingly not based on trends. You’re able to access the whole story a cookbook can tell, not only bits and pieces.

Thank you for the kind words! 🤩

Deep resource, easy to use

Amazing selection of books organized so you can read the whole book or just search for a particular recipe. I own probably 50 paper cookbooks, 750 cookbooks on kindle but I find myself turning to ckbk more and more because I can search so many different ways from a wonderful selection of books. A phenomenal deep resource of really great books with stellar organization and ease of use.

Home cook requirement

If you have more than 3 cook books in your wish list you need to subscribe to CKBK. I’ve had the service since the beginning and now that they have released the app I couldn’t be happier.
