Reviews of DJI Fly

  • Disappointed with Limited Photo and Video Transfer Functionality

I recently purchased the DJI Mini Pro and decided to leave a review regarding the app’s functionality. Unfortunately, I am quite disappointed with the limited capabilities when it comes to transferring photos and videos.

One of the main reasons I opted for the Mini Pro was to capture stunning aerial shots and easily transfer them to my phone for editing and sharing. However, the app’s current limitations prevent me from doing so effectively. I find it perplexing that I am unable to transfer any of my photos or videos from the drone to my device.

Without the ability to easily access and utilize my captured media, the app feels quite useless in terms of enhancing my overall experience with the DJI Mini Pro. I was expecting a seamless transfer process, allowing me to enjoy and share my aerial footage effortlessly.

I sincerely hope that the app developers will address this issue and introduce an update that enables smooth and convenient transfer of photos and videos. It would greatly enhance the value of the DJI Mini Pro and make it a more enjoyable and user-friendly experience for all its users.

Overall, I believe that improving the app’s photo and video transfer functionality would significantly elevate the overall user experience and ensure that the DJI Mini Pro lives up to its potential as a reliable and high-quality drone.
  • Difficult to go from one drone to another & the options buried in menus

Not always intuitive and no SDK for Mavic 3? 😡

Even though it’s been some time now that the Fly app has been out, and DJI has added some good features, it is not easy enough to get to the features! Since many options are buried in menus, and some in strange places as well (like battery is under “Safety” 😳) it can be very difficult to understand whether or not a specific option or setting is possible with different drones, especially when going from one drone to the next. It’s also very difficult to understand why, after spending so much money on the Mavic 3, that they chose to withhold the fact that they will apparently never come out with an SDK that allows us the ability to use that drone to the max. Do they really think I’m going to sell this one just to by the appropriate Mavic 3, just to be dissatisfied again when they leave some other feature out? Especially with the issues with not being able to use DJI everywhere because of the China connection?

Unless DJI listens to its users and provides an SDK for the Mavic 3, basic customer loyalty, I’m setting my flying sights somewhere else for my next drone purchase. 😢 Sad but true!
  • Great app. Not THAT bad!

First of all, I don’t why there are so many bad reviews on this app. This is a great app compared to some of the other off-brand ones I have used.
Second, this app has saved my Mini SE hundreds of times. It shows battery life (other apps won’t even do that), it shows my distance, and height. It has a map that shows where my drone is. It shows GPS status, aircraft status, and so much more that makes flying so much easier.
Obviously, a lot goes into flying a drone, and it will drain your phone battery. If you have an older phone, of course it will overheat. This is a very powerful app that requires lots of energy. I don’t blame DJI for this.
If you are super worried about this, get a controller with a built-in screen! That’s why DJI makes some drones that way. I truly believe DJI is trying to make things a lot easier, and they have helped me several times.
Bottom line, ignore the other negative reviews, DJI has updated this app quite a bit, knocking out the other little bugs. I do believe you won’t have much of problem using this app.
Also, if you have limited camera controls, that is probably because your drone probably doesn’t support it. My Mini SE doesn’t support aperture, D-Log, or panorama like some of the other professional ones. Don’t blame the app for this, you simply have a simpler drone. That’s all.
