All Versions of Brewtist

1.4.3

March 17, 2022

Fixes some memory reference cycles, which should reduce overall memory use and possibly resolve some infrequent UI issues.

1.4.2

July 6, 2021

This updates fixes a few bugs: - Adding a custom yeast to your recipe didn't honor the number of cells and always used 100B. - Sometimes mash ingredients sort weirdly (move the ingredient to another step and back to the mash to fix it up for existing recipes). - The estimated OG and total water needed for a recipe did not account for fermenter losses.

1.4.1

Another fix for an issue that could lead to a crash while editing a recipe. I don't want to nag you in the app (you have beer to brew!), so if you like Brewtist, please consider rating it and writing a review.

◆ It's now possible to be specific about what measurement unit you want to use for specific contexts. Prefer pounds and gallons for most things, but like to measure your yeast starters in liters? No problem! ◆ Added UK volume measurements ◆ New App Clip previews for recipes published on brewtist.com ◆ Share recipes and batch data in BeerXML format ◆ Fixes an issue where the navigation bar disappeared from a recipe after backgrounding the app on iPads. ◆ Fixes issues importing BeerXML files. ◆ Fixes issues sorting and numbering batches of a recipe that were brewed on the same day.

Better control of your data with Backup & Restore: make a complete backup of all of your recipes and batches in a single file you can move anywhere you wish. Document your brews with photos and PDFs: snap a photo of your first pour or attach competition feedback. Plus: ◆ Additional compatibility enhancements for iOS 14. ◆ BJCP 2015 style guidelines included in the Tools tab. ◆ Ingredients within a brewing step are now also sorted by duration. ◆ Fixed a bug that prevented changing a mash step to use direct heat on iPhones. ◆ For the BIAB method, brew day steps no longer include a sparge step.

1.2.2

October 4, 2020

◆ Improves compatibility with iOS 14. ◆ Fixes problems with gravity estimates and total water needed if your equipment profile has a non-zero amount for fermenter losses. ◆ Fixes a problem with the pre-boil gravity estimate when a recipe includes more than one steeped grain or one extract. ◆ Fixes a crash that could occur when using one of the tools after tapping "back" from a recipe or batch. ◆ Fixes OG and ABV estimates when fermentable ingredients are added during fermentation. If you like Brewtist, please consider rating and reviewing it!

1.2.1

August 8, 2020

◆ I think this version finally fixes a bug that could crash the app when deleting a recipe or batch you were just looking at. ◆ Improves the behavior of the split view interface on larger iPhones when rotating between portrait and landscape. If you like Brewtist, please consider rating and reviewing it!

1.2

August 5, 2020

◆ Import BeerXML and BeerSmith (.bsmx) files from other apps using their share feature. ◆ Added mineral and acid ingredients. ◆ Fixes some rendering and layout bugs on the recipe screen. ◆ Fixes discrepancies in mash calculations between the base recipe and batches of that recipe. ◆ Fixes target volume into fermenter of a batch not accounting for fermenter losses in the equipment profile. ◆ Fixes the cell count and recommended starter size for historical batches. If you like Brewtist, please consider rating and reviewing it!

1.1.1

This is mostly a bug fix release: ◆ Fixes a rounding issue in the style meters. An SRM of 2.6 rounds to 3, so it looks barely within style for a Kölsch, but under the hood 2.6 is less than 3, so it used a color that didn't match up with the number. ◆ Brew day timers wouldn't appear to resume after completing some mid-boil additions and returning to the steps later. ◆ The mash adjustment tool didn't calculate the right amount of ice to add if you overshot your temperature target. The fix for this should also make the infusion calculations more accurate. I couldn't help but add a couple of small new features, though: ◆ The Settings tab will get a badge if there are updates available for a previously downloaded data pack. ◆ You can "undownload" a data pack by swiping left if you no longer want the equipment/hops/ingredients. ◆ There is a new preference to disable iOS's automatic screen dim/lock when you're looking at the brew day steps. If you like Brewtist, I'd appreciate a rating and/or review in the store!

◆ Support for BIAB brewing and direct-heat mash steps. ◆ Brew day steps and timers guide you through your entire brew day, one step at a time. ◆ Additional ingredients available as free downloadable data packs. ◆ Tools and calculators to adjust your hydrometer reading, fix a high or low mash temperature, and calculate the right amount of sugar to carbonate your finished beer.

  • Great App with lots of potential

I’m an old school brewer and love to write my recipes and changes in my log book. I came across this app and was surprised at how well I could change over from pen and paper to electronic. It’s really nice that everything is in one place.

There are however some minor things that I would like to see fixed or addressed:

    - I usually do a partial boil so instead of using 5gal initially I use 3 and then dilute down to 5 at the end. Using this option in the app gives the wrong original gravity as well as false parameters for the other values. Not a big deal but would be nice to have that option.

    - I also had a hard time finding the brew day tab and only after playing with the app for a while was I able to find it.

    - there should also be a place in the ingredients for yeast nutrient, finings, etc.

Overall a great app and I will continue to support it even if I am an old timer.
