  • Excellent app, with room for improvements

Let me preface this by saying that this is the best Pokédex app I’ve tried. It’s really amazing the amount of information in it, and it’s also awesome that you can create different checklists and navigate the Pokédex’s by their individual game version.

I’m taking two stars away for a very particular reason, though. I’m working my way towards a Living dex, getting the mons from the earliest version that they’re available. So, while the app remembers the setting for which game Pokédex database is being displayed, and also which Checklist I used last time, it does NOT remember the “Generation of appearance” option. This means that every single time I go to the Pokémon list, I have to either go through a few annoying clicks to re-set the setting, or visually skip all of the irrelevant Pokémon that I haven’t gotten yet or that are of another gen. Trust me, this gets very annoying over time.

If the devs are listening to this, make these filters selection sticky and I’ll buy this app again!

  • Love it!

Best companion app for any of the games, it has everything I could ask for. Bought the biggest package a while ago and never regretted it.
  • Must Download

I’ve been using many different websites and apps for information on Pokémon games and all were a bit annoying to use. I came across this app and it was everything I could ask for. The app was simple to use and very easy to navigate through. I love how you can separate options based off which game you’re playing. I love that you can input your team and it breaks down the teams strengths and weaknesses. The only thing I’d change is the symbols for the types. I have friends I’ve recommended the app to and sometimes they ask me what does the symbol mean. One thing I’d love to see in the app is location of items. At the moment I’m playing Pokémon Y and I’m trying to locate all of the mega stones. I thought the app would tell me the location but it doesn’t have the location of any items. I was surprised because I feel like the app has literally everything I searched for. Other than that this app is perfect!

  • Brilliant! Especially if you buy the mega pack

Absolutely brilliant! Works amazing though I definitely buying the mega pack as it allowed you to see all Pokémon at once without switching between regions with the national dex, and being able to use it offline means you can use it on planes and in places with no data service.
  • Great app, could use a few additions

First of all this app is pretty comprehensive and useful. I’ve been playing through every generation again and it’s helpful in a lot of ways. I like being able to chose between each generation’s Pokédex and getting exact learnsets/Pokémon locations etc for that generation. There are a couple of things I would really like implemented that would make it a 5 star review:

    • Item effect - the app will say what an item does based on an ingame description, for example - Odd Incense “an item to be held by a Pokémon. This exotic-smelling incense boost the power of psychic-type moves”. This shows the basics of what it does, but it would be great if it showed the exact percentages of the boost, eg “ boosts the power of the users psychic type moves by 20%”. This is one of the few times I find myself having to go off app to bulbapedia or the like for this information.

    • Maps - it would be helpful if there were maps for every location with information on item locations/trainer locations/places of interest. There are some caves which have complicated layouts and if you are trying to find a certain item in it, it is helpful to have a map with its location, and the staircases/ladders you need to use to get to it. Again, another instance I am regularly off app finding the information.

Really good app though. As I say, a few updates here and there would make it better.

  • Wonderful

This app AMAZING helps me with all my Pokémon knowledge.
  • The Best Thing Ever

This app has been the best thing that’s happened to me since I received my first Pokémon game (Platinum, 2008) and I will never not have this app open next to me when I play. I’ve never found other online databases like Serebii or Bulbapedia easy to read or intuitive to use. ProDex’s interface is one of the cleanest I’ve ever seen in a VG companion app. There might be a glitch or bug every once in a while but I’m willing to forgo that in order to have data on every game across all nine generations at my fingertips. I will continue to support the team that makes this app for generations to come!

I do have one suggestion I thought of as I’m writing this review. I think support for some of the popular ROM hacks in the community would be fantastic. Maybe give the hack developers the ability to input the data and stats from their hacks into the app? I’ve been playing a lot of ROM hacks recently from creators like Drayano and Buffel Saft. Being able to have their info coupled with the awesome team builder from ProDex would be flippin’ awesome!

  • Amazing app! Some suggestions:

I really enjoy using this app. It helps me bunches when I need help while playing the Pokémon games! But, some ideas and suggestions could make this app perfect! 1) Maybe add a Rivals tab so you can see what your rival’s Pokémon knows, and what they have! It would be really useful, especially if I have trouble. Like Marnie, Hop, Gary, and others! 2) Maybe also add the regional forms to their respective region? Like, Alolan Grimer. Maybe switch it around so it can be in the gen 7? Because normally you wouldn’t find a wild alolan grimer in Kanto, but you could find a normal Grimer! 3) In the items tab, I like to find items so it can help me with my journeys. But, I can’t do so if it doesn’t tell me where to find it. This could be a little bit over-the-top, but maybe add the items location(s)? That’s all my suggestions! I hope you look into these! But otherwise, this app is amazing!

Edit: I also have another idea! Could you maybe add a button so we can hear it’s cry? That’d be cool! I’d love to spam hear frosslass, lol!

  • Great

Love it but can you please add gym trainers if not it’s fine:)
  • Amazing, clean app

I used to use Bulbapedia, but this app has become my go to for looking up pokemon data. Really intuitive clean UI and it’s really quick to find the info you need. The only thing I would suggest is adding the teams for rivals/evil team leaders/pivotal character battles per game. Sometimes I would like to know a person’s team but only the gym leaders and elite 4 teams are listed.
