  • Not a bad start…

This is not a bad start for an app like this. It obviously could use a fair bit of improvement but I think it’s got the right idea. Sadly it’s very slow to start the first time but once past that it’s got the fields I would expect for tracking fountain pens and ink. That said, unless you go through the trouble of downloading the pen database mentioned in the settings the drop down menus are very limited. I feel that there are a number of improvements that could be made to make data entry easier. This isn’t a pretty app or UI but I don’t feel that’s a problem due to what this app does. The UI is functional and usable at least. The export/import option is a nice touch.

  • Nice little app

The app is not overly drawn out. Instead, there are no splash screens except for a split second of a fountain pen nib but then it goes straight to the app where you can fill out all the information necessary.

My biggest complaints are lack of pen choices. I have the IM Vibrant Rings pen and it's not even in the list. It's been out for 2 years so I know the developer has had some time to update the app since then, but I digress.

Next, information on each category would be nice. This is my first real fountain pen since a cheap plastic one I bought many years ago so I don't really know what some of the categories mean. Looking them up individually on Google was a partial help but some of the categories were just a "wing it" sort of vibe. Fill out what you MIGHT think it means.

And yes, the very dull appearance of the app is not very appealing. But, where the app shines is the inks information section. I just bought 4 bottles of Diamine ink for my new Parker IM and can't wait to use them. Looking up all the colors is top notch. Not over the top info but just what you need including the strip of color to see how it might look on paper.

All in all, this is a decent little app that will allow me to begin my collection of fountain pens, starting with my Parker IM. Next on my radar is a Waterman or maybe a Scriveiner, which is the one I truly wanted in the first place but couldn't find a retailer here in Thailand.

  • I want to like it

When you scroll through the example photos for this app, it doesn’t show you how large and obnoxious the advertisements are. Swipe over to the “Ink Menu” picture and you will see the top half of the picture is blank. On the Pen Menu, that is where the advertisement is. You can turn off Google advertisements so it’s at least not a blinking-blaring flash of nonsense, but after that you get to look at Pelican, Sailor, and AliExpress ads. There has to be a purchase price or a subscription model to dump the ads. The ads are why I’m not keeping the app.

If/when that gets fixed, I’d love to see a field for pen weight. That’s an important variable for a lot of people.

  • Great app but needs to update inventory

There are so many more brands out now that need to be added. Existing brands in the app need to have more of the inks listed. It would be great if we could attach a photo of the ink swatch card for each ink.
  • Great little app!!

Great app to keep my collection in.

    Due some love:
    * The import export feature is bugged. I find myself editing the backup a lot before I can import it again. Luckily the app tells me why it can’t use its own backup, so editing is actually an option!
    * the rating feature is bugged. If I put some stars in, they will change to some number between 4 and 48!
    * the pen and ink databases are getting a little out of date and some entries are just wrong. Shockingly, there are no entries for a Parker Jotter or Vector. Dominant Industries are missing from the inks.
    * some of the suggested ink hex codes are way off. Is there a possibility of using ink swatch.com to provide more accurate codes?
    * would be cool if your ink entry had an option to automatically link to the correct mountain of ink page!

I’d definitely support if I knew there were updates on the way!!

  • Good Idea poor support and import

I like the app as a whole but tried to import the backup into my iPhone and a smaller iPad so I had it available wherever I was working. It keeps crashing out - it finishes checking the backup (550mb in size) then asks if you want to replace and then just crashes! Checking data storage shows the data has imported but app shows 0 pens and inks!
What a waste of time imputing all my data. Oh and the developer doesn’t respond to emails!

  • Completely useless! Nothing but inputting your own list.

Not only do annoying ads take up half the screen space, you have to type everything in to get your “Ink Inventory “!
If I wanted to write out a list of my inks (along with 12 different attributes) I would’ve done it already.
I thought this would allow the user to scan barcodes and have a lot of information pre-populated…. Wrong! This app does nothing but give the user a format in which to enter all that information yourself. It doesn’t even group into colors. The “ink encyclopedia” only lists the brand name and the color name – gives no further information such as waterproof (or not), opacity, special attributes, RGB etc.
This app is useless and I’m deleting it right now.

  • Not user friendly, way too many pop up ads..

Thought I’d leave this review before I delete this app. I’ve wasted enough time trying to use this. The instructions were useless, ads constantly interrupting. The one pen I managed to enter never showed in the list. Such a disappointment.. Buh-bye.......
  • Ads

The ads are larger than the app.
  • Great if You're Not Manually Adding

If your pens are in their database, then it works great. If you have to manually add pens because they're not in the database (Noodler's flex pens, for example), then they won't show up in your collection. They'll display on the main page as having the number updated, but not actually show in the collection.
Super disappointing because it was a promising app.
