  • Great Way to Organize PADI Certs

PADI came up with a great way to keep all of your cert cards with you at all times, when they initiated the eCard, along with allowing you to have an electronic dive record. I like a physical record also, but having an electronic one allows me to look through it when I don't have my physical one handy. It also gives checklists and a quick review on hand signals and knots, for quick reference right before you dive. Only thing that they could add is allow you to take the course within the app and perhaps an dive planner.
  • PADI vs SSI

There are significant differences between SSI and PADI. I have done both, and found SSI to be overly concerned with theory and classroom, while PADI is more pragmatic and boils down all the science into simple principles and guidance about how to use technology, and what it means to your safety…. I’m not sure I need to know my lungs would have a 2x expansion on ascent from 30 ft if i held my breath… just let me know it could kill me, and give me instructions about what to do, and how to first avoid emergencies (manage air), then second how to live through them (out of air).
I also don’t need to know how to manually manage dive tables, but rather how to use a dive computer and gages.
Don’t teach me to design a Swiss watch, when i ask for the current time.
  • Still useless

I haven’t been in this app in 5-10 years and it’s just as bad as it once was. I went into a cert that I didn’t have a card for. The buttons for purchase eCard and replace cert card literally do nothing. There’s no error message, no screen refresh, etc. might as well click any random part of the screen. Log book and certs aren’t available offline, as if people are only diving in major metro areas. How about offline mode with a sync option for later? (Don’t even get me started on the fact that PADI charges over $50 for an eCard, which is same price as physical card. I know that’s not an app issue but I’m throwing it out there anyway.) Horrible all around.

  • How does the worlds largest scuba org have such a bad app?

pretty minimal functionally. When it works. If it works right. The most glaring issue is that it is wildly inconsistent on displaying certs. Sometimes it shows all of them, sometimes some of them, other times none of them. The logging feature is pretty minimal without any sort of means to sync it to a dive computer or upload dive profiles. There’s not a feature to make custom checklists, track equipment service cycles, track renewal dates like with BLS/CPR/EFR, etc. A social meet up aspect would be cool too. considering PADI is the largest scuba agency in the world I expect more, but minimal consistent functionality is still lacking.

  • Logbook doesn’t work

I feel like being able to log your dives would be a pretty basic function, but I can’t seem to get it to work with this app. It seems that you cannot save a log entry unless you can find an official name for the dive site in the search function, but there don’t seem to be any dives actually listed (at least, not in French Polynesia where I live). As a result I generally can’t save any dives in the first place. In addition, the few dives I managed to save have disappeared from the app; now it says that no dives have been logged. So you’re better off using a piece of paper or even the “Notes” section in your phone if you actually want to log dives.

  • The app requires Internet access to enter information into the Dive log

The developers of this app are clearly clueless!! The app requires Internet access in order to log your Dive. Are you guys morons? Most locations don’t have Internet access, and most divers are logging their dives immediately upon returning to the boat.

The dive log is substandard. It doesn’t give you selections for things like a night dive, and most information is repeated over and over again when the critical information of depth and length of dive are not there furthermore, your phone has GPS so it could easily orate the actual location into the Dive parameters, but it doesn’t even do that.

My suggestion is you guys start over with some real divers to do the development or specify the requirements for the app. Do it right or don’t bother!

  • Log issues

I am a new diver using the app for the e-certificate and logging dives. There are bugs around logging dives. This seems like a basic user action that is not currently functional. I am looking to store initial dive information in the PADI app for quick reference and visibility with future dive operators as I travel (I have not yet purchased a dive computer w/ related apps for tracking dives). This is an unfortunate experience for a new user.

I added dives in the PADI web application (which also has a bug saving all the data, but I will omit web related details here). Dives that show in the web app do not show in the native app.

Devices used: iPhone (iOS 17.2.1), iPad (iPad OS 17.1.2).

  • Convenient, but…

This app (as a whole) is GREAT!!! But PADI need to update it more frequently, because it doesn’t show all my logged dives nor dose it download my eCards (displaying my scuba certifications) nor can I delete excess e-cards which I have had a real problem with, so it needs some work but a great app none the less.
  • Great App

Great app with many features. My only complaint is that I cannot log my dives using the imperial system. That makes more difficult to log dives/requires conversions. I probably won’t be using the log feature until there’s an option for imperial system. I hope they change this and add a setting because it’s cool to have it on there.
  • Ok, but could use improvements to log book feature

The log book feature isn’t great with floating point rounding error when using imperial measurements. Doesn’t work well with dive shops that prefer paper materials. It would be nice to take a photo from paper log books.

It would be nice if it integrated with Apple’s Wallet app too.
