Method is great. Price isn’t!
This app could be a great writing tool but full access is too expensive which is a shame. I bought the original book and the more recent Save The Cat! Writes a Novel. I love the method, techniques and examples you get from the book. There is even more content on their website. It would be great if you automatically gained access to the app with your purchase of the book. I will definitely use the basic outlining available for free but I won’t be purchasing the packages unless the price drops significantly.

I just downloaded this app for no reason. Almost all of the features are locked until you pay a lot of money. The adds are very misguiding.

We provide outlining capabilities for free, which is a very useful tool to have at no cost. If you have any questions please feel free to write us. If you already have a desktop subscription, you can upload your project and work on your content with full functionality, without having to pay anything to use the app.
Pay again?
I spent $27 on the previous save the cat app, now i got to spend another $30+? is there no way to get at least the first tier since I paid for the previous app? If not, I'm very dissapointed

Indispensable for a Writer
This is one of my most used pieces of software. If you’re a writer in any medium, this is an indispensable program! It helps you organize and solidify your plot so that you’re about as organized as you can be when you finally begin to bring your creation to life. This in combination with the book of the same name have proven to be two of the most useful things I’ve ever owned.

Way more modern than the old app
I bought the original app in thoughts of it being updated with version 4, but then I found out version 4 was a completely new app, and so I tried it out, and it looks a lot better, especially with the option to write a novel in it. When I told the people at customer services about how I paid for the old app, they gave me a Promo code that got me the Essential version for free(in all fairness, the Essential version is the same price as the old app). I really look forward to writing new stories with this app.

One of The Best Writing Apps - worth a look
In my opinion, every writer should give this version of Save The Cat a try., even if you tried a prior version, this new version has been massively expanded.
This iteration of Save The Cat has pretty much everything you could want in a writing app.
Every section is well thought out with all the drill down detail needed to organize a screenplay or novel. Beat sheet, scene and character creation with relationships works flawlessly. Even Locations, Objects, setups and payoffs are all tightly integrated into the app.
This is one of the few ports of an app that rivals the desktop version. My hat is off to the Blake Snyder team.
I also think the upgrade functionality unlock is well worth the money, and competitively priced, given the content.

Syncing is great
Really like syncing with my desktop software
RIP OFF
This company charged I believe $200 to get the full version just a year ago so you can sync through multiple devices and now it is obsolete and no longer existent. There isn’t a grand scale difference between my v3 and the new v4 other then give me your money yearly after you already paid in full to have the accessibility I’m no longer willing to offer you.
If this app was wide scale holy crap better, then fair. But there is little difference for a version I would have to pay $100-200/year for even though the v3 I paid for was a “Frye festival” false promise.
Don’t get this.
There are other user considering apps around that don’t try to gouge you like this company has transitioned to.
