A handy app

Handy app for color matching paint substitutions and for planning your projects ahead of time

Great App

Super helpful for finding and choosing paint colors.

Pretty Good- real nice for paid version.

So the color picker is accurate, and the AMOUNT of paint brands is great. The real nice thing about the paid version is the color combiner that allows you to pick out a color in a picture and combine two paints that could probably make that color. Also, while I don’t use it much, the color wheel used to find analogous and such colors is pretty nice for experimenting. Also, your mixed colors show up in the database so you can use those for such things too!

Quietly one of the best apps I use

Obviously it’s a niche interest app but in turns of user experience and actual value added it’s one of the best I’ve ever downloaded.

Occasionally confusing UI is my only critique. The developer pushes updates regularly with new paint ranges and keeps adding features that I never knew were missing from my life and yet make my painting projects easier to plan out and troubleshoot.

I say it’s one of the best I own because you can tell he knows his market - I can’t believe how often he adds new features that are innovative, shockingly useful, and completely new to the app; doesn’t have that feeling a lot of corporate apps have of throwing superficial “improvements” at the wall that nobody wanted or asked for and calling it innovation.

If you need an app like this for your hobby I think you will be impressed by this one, and the developer really deserves you springing for the paid version, which I hope you will.

Note sure what this app is supposed to do

When I select a photo it just goes back to the same screen I started with and the photo isn’t there nor does the app tell you anything more like tips on how it’s to be used and what it does. I understand concept of the app but I must be missing something…

Your definition

So you find an image for something you want to paint. Copy it and if the app decides to play you can tap areas to build up a palette of colours from the database you have (hopefully) compiled before you start. That will suffice for you. I mean we can look at Angus McBride’s pictures (it’s blatantly obvious a LOT of sculptors have) and say that’s the definitive look but unless we had a perfectly preserved example of authentic clothing we can only say this is our best guest. I’ve just done the biz on a re-enactor dressed as a Turcopole and…bold choice of clothing. At least it works as a launch pad for painting something.

I’m not sure I understand what to do with this

I’m certain I’m missing something, but it seems that I can only pick colours for a pallet by tapping a colour existing in an already coloured image. So I can’t take a black and white image and pick colours I want to use and paint said black and white image. I don’t see how I could make a pallet of colours I like, and save it off to colour anything. If anyone seeing this knows how it can be used for painting, please let me know. I make miniatures, and when I saw this I got excited and went all in.

Great app

This is a great way to manage and color match your paints. I just upgraded to the pro version and love the color and mixing recommendations.

One feature that would improve the experience is automatically syncing paint and palette settings across devices

Bug perhaps?

Basically, the issue I have is just with the “upload image” part. It doesn’t work for me, I tap on the button and see the icon darken as a sign that the app knows I tapped, but nothing happens. Even after restarting and reinstalling the app.

I also feel pretty locked out of the “triangulation” part that I was hoping to play around with. That part, I payed for. I can’t see anything for it in the side menu, nor do I see anything when I’m in the mixing colors session.

I hate leaving a bad review if I could rather send a bug report, maybe I’m just overlooking it. Either way, hope this review helps for all parties involved.
