It would be great to have a way to view the battery percentage either on the speaker or thru the app. Also, being able to power off/on from the app.STorres0307
My speaker does not really need to know my location
This app is garbage, does not work unless high accuracy location permission is granted. There is no need for this for any speaker functionality. It is a straight up invasion of privacy. Deleting after i finish writing the review.
Won’t buy another Ion device, either.

I’m happy with it.
My Pathfinder 4 connected flawlessly while I was playing music through the speaker. It’s a very basic interface but it does everything it needs to. I love being able to control the radio through the app instead of walking to the speaker. First world problem solved.BongWolf
Great app!
I love being able to control the speaker on my phone. So nice!!! One thing I would love, and sure the app can be updated to do this... but I would love to be able to make the speaker locked through the app... so when my toddlers run and turn the volume up & down it doesn’t actually change the volume. I end up running the speaker all day and half the time the music isn’t on because they have run away and I get busy with what I was doing and forgot to turn it back on! or they turn it up blaring loud 😂🤣Show lessLovePhotoBug
Worth a try
Using it with iPhone and it’s working great so far. It seems good with pathfinder 4. I have tried it with ION PA several months ago and had some issues. Not sure if it’s because of the update or different speakers but it’s working good for me with pathfinder.Jonathan Ruiz (Modesto, California, USA)
Extremely Disappointing
I was able to get a pathfinder 4 on sale for only $89 and have really loved the device. The radio is great and clear Bluetooth music comes across completely perfectly (not to mention the bottle opener). But this app is the most under-developed utility app I’ve ever used. You must uninstall it every time you want to connect and reinstall it/go through setup. Even then you only get functionality about 1/3 of the time. I originally downloaded the app to change the colors and possibly alter the mids since you can only change the hi and low from the speaker. But I couldn’t even get the app to work without crashing or disconnecting. Don’t waste your time. If you have the pathfinder 4 just enjoy the bass and wireless charging, forget about the app.Show lessGamToast
Problems with App
I’ve had the same problems as other people with this app. I’d delete. Reinstall. Repair. Would have to do this every time.
I’m surprised the manufacturer hasn’t replied with a simpler solution. You need to be connected to bothPathfinder 4 and Pathfinder 4_BLE (or whatever you name your speaker). The former allows you to play music. The latter is what allows you to control the other functions of the speaker.
Leaving the rating at 1 since this isn’t intuitive and the manufacturer/developer never chimed in to explain this.Show lessbrewer alan
Seriously, it’s fine!
I don’t know why there are bad reviews. It connected on the first try. This is a simple, intuitive app that does the basic needs of the Pathfinder 4. The only thing that I think it needs is a power on/off function in the app. (If it there, I couldn’t find it) but everything else is very easy and responsive. Maybe some of the bad reviews are from people expecting a lot more than the app should do? All-in-all, it is convenient to control many of the features from a distance, but since it has the built in charger, (and bottle opener) you are always right there with it anyway!

Works with ION Pathfinder 4, but room for improvement
Costco recently sold a ton of Pathfinder 4 tailgate loudspeakers for $90; a very good deal. The Sound XP app controls the PathFinder’s audio settings. The app works fine on my iPhone 8 though the interface is a little wonky and takes some getting used to. Once you figure it out, which won’t take long, you’ll appreciate being able to adjust high, low AND mid frequencies via your phone. (Note: you are NOT able to adjust the Mid freq’s on the speaker itself.) Plus, you are able to change FM stations from the app as well. In other words, by using the app, you can control nearly all of the speaker’s features except the bottle opener. Knowing the convenience the app brings, I would not purchase any other ION speaker that did not have a compatible iPhone app with which to control it. The app has great features, but it needs to have the capability to turn the Bluetooth speaker on and off. It also needs the capability to control the volume while using any function, like radio and AUX. & needs to be able to show the battery percentage of the speaker.J19D93P
