This app lacks on features! There’s about 3 main things you can do and that’s about it. I was excited to try this app out and connect it to my pathfinder 4 but even connecting to it was a challenge. I had to look into the reviews to figure it out. Once I connected I was disappointed in the little to no options that the app gives you. Would like to see an update with more effort behind it. Would rate it zero stars if possible!!!!

  • Horrible 🤦🏽‍♂️

I bought the speakers because of the app only to be disappointed horribly. Being able to control the lights and eq sounded great in the store only to be horribly disappointed once I got it home. It connected to the speaker and then it was all down hill after that. Super glitchy and then it just wouldn't connect anymore. Not to mention you have to turn the volume up and down on the speaker and on your phone separately.

  • Severe security flaw

This app shouldn’t be published. The complete lack of any type of security controls between the app and the radio should be recognized. In a multi-tenant environment, anyone can control anyone else’s radio within Bluetooth range (ie: sitting by the pool on vacation). This was as simple as scanning for a radio, finding it, and connecting. No security whatsoever. At the very least, the radio should have a way to disable this feature.

Besides this, everyone else’s review is correct. It only works the first time. You have to remove the discovered radio each time between power cycles, since it won’t reconnect to any previously discovered radio. Nice gimmick but the performance and lack of security should prompt apple to pull it from the store.

  • ✨Works Triumphantly✨

I saw the negative reviews and was Leary about even trying the app. I really wanted to see if I could have any control over my lights and the FM radio aspects. Controlling the volume was a gimme with Bluetooth without the app. So, I downloaded the ION Sound XP app, and it worked triumphantly right off the blocks on the iPhone 6s!!! I’m totally satisfied.

  • Don’t change the name

Pretty garbage. Finally workingish though. Delete app, forget speaker Bluetooth on phone, turn off BT on speaker, turn off speaker. Install app. Turn on speaker. Turn on Bluetooth on speaker. Don’t connect to Bluetooth though. Open app. Tap add device (if you tap start here, it tells you to tap add device after because the UX is moronic). Just add the thing—if you change the name of your speaker it won’t work. Then hope it quickly flashes and lets you into the settings for the speaker. Now you can disable the awful voice announcements. Also, if you email Ion they’ll email you a week later saying “we should have replied, check your spam folder”. Of course your spam folder will be empty. lol Ion come on hire a competent PM, UX designer, and a full stack dev or few eh?

  • Trash 10/10

This app is absolute trash. Adding my voice to the other 1 star reviews in the hopes that Ion will get their crap together and actually make an app that works the way they claim it does.

Initially the app worked just fine for me. That was the first and the last time. Next day 0 app control of speaker. Re-downloaded the app and now it won’t even pull up the right speaker model. Don’t get your hopes up of having any app control of this speaker if you’re thinking of purchasing. Considering returning mine.

  • Really smooth!

All features controlled seamlessly from iPhone instead of using teeny remote or looking at the back of the unit. I’m pleasantly surprised that it’s a great radio device also. Mic levels for the two inputs also can be controlled by the app. Makes the value of the device even better!
