First time using app. Booked taxi the day before for a special event. Thought using app would be better than phoning as we would get confirmation by email - and any updates. Didn’t work out like that..
Initially I received 2 confirmation emails which was reassuring.
Day of pick up received no further communication but thought this was standard.
Time of pick up arrived - no taxi - waited 5 mins then checked the app - only to find it had been cancelled (news to me!) called a1 - only to be told taxi had indeed been cancelled, apparently by phone the previous day (I’ve checked my phone details are correct in app and checked email spam folder - and definitely no one contacted me to say the booking was cancelled)
The lady I spoke to at a1 said it was because we ordered a 6 seater (?) (so my fault?) as they don’t work Wednesdays (?) and they were possible on holiday anyway. (?) bizarre
Anyway I asked for alternative car to be sent - only to be told there wasn’t one available for another 30 mins. This was of no help to us as we had a table booked for a surprise meal and we couldn’t be that late.
I politely said that it wasn’t good enough - and was told I was being rude (not rude - stressed!) I ended the call, phoned another local firm and we had a taxi within 10 mins.
Mistakes happen, we were unfortunate it happened to us on an important evening. We felt a1 could have handled it better. I don’t believe we had an apology, just excuses.
They may not a bad company generally , but in light of our experience we Unfortunately won’t be using them again in a hurry, or recommending.
My advice would be if you do use the app to book double-check your app for updates.! - Because you might not get a call or email if it gets cancelled…
Also - I think the app would be more accurate if they say cars can take up to 4 passengers (icon has 3 for all cars - not everyone is taking luggage)
